There was a marathon of this show on yesterday and dd and I watched a couple of them. As someone that shopped at Kleinfeld's back in the day with my best friend (she bought her dress there and I got my bridesmaid dress there) I like to see how much it has changed.

BUT What up with dress prices!? There was a girl buying a dress for $15,000! On sale! Originally $25,000!
Thankfully my dd *11 said She should have bought a car.
Let's hope she keeps thinking that way.
Are people nuts??

I think my dress might have been expensive back in the day- like $2000- but I paid for it myself. It floors me that in this day there are girls looking to their parents to buy them a $25000 dress!

The prices are unreal!! I was thinking the same thing. Gotta love when one of the girls would say that their budget was $2000 and the sales woman was sort of like "what do you expect me to find with that sort of budget?" Yikes! My sister got her dress for $900 and it was GORGEOUS. There's no reason to pay that much money, I think it's more about status and show and that point.

If you watch a lot of the show, you will see most brides are in about a $2000-5000 range. To me $5000 is a lot, but for many it wouldn't be. $2000 seems high but okay in my opinion and in reality they have a decent selection from about $1300-2000.

The bride with the dress on sale was outrageous, but it was a beautiful gown and definitely on the high end. I think most Pnina Tornai's dresses run for around $6000 give or take.

I just saw the show for the first time last night. Come on, $25,000 for a one time deal? And it was torn on top of it? Please.

I've watched the show........I don't care for it. it's nice to see the brides and the gowns....but I HATE the way the sales people/managers are.

Snotty, rude, and they rush the brides waaayy too much.....for the prices of their gowns these brides should be given plenty of time to make a decision.

I bought my gown for just over $900 at Davids bridal.....2 days of trying on various dresses with one AMAZING associate and I found "The One"......I wasn't rushed or pressured.....or made to feel guilty for having a low budget and for taking my time......all in all an amazing experience and best yet.....not once did I second guess my purchase:thumbsup2

I love this show!

Aren't most, if not all, of the gowns they sell there available through most bridal salons?

If not, I'd think most gowns could be ordered directly from the designer/manufacturer at another salon.

I made my own wedding gown, made the veil too. Yards of tulle,Alencon lace, beads, crystals, the whole thing. And it was every bit as pretty as any storebought dress. And I sure as heck didn't spend $3000 for it.:scared1:

and they wonder why so many people are so deep in dept! I fell in love with a dress at Davids Bridal when I got married. It was around maybe $500. Just for giggles I looked it up on ebay to see what people were selling them for and came across a brand new one with tags still on it, in my size for $99. With shipping it only cost me $120! Same thing with the matching tiara, $50 on ebay brand new and $300 in the store for the same exact one.

I remember one last year where there was this absolutely spoiled brat of a bride.

She had custom ordered a Pnina dress in the high 20's. When it came in, she hated it- the top was not see through enough.

So, Daddy let her get another one off the rack that was also in the high 20's. She found one she liked, but then had them remove all the lace outercover of the dress (the bulk of the price of the dress) because she whined that she didn't like lace.

So, she got the tulle underskirt for $28,000 (give or take a thousand).

She was spoiled, rude and totally obnoxious to the sales staff and her family.

OTH - I hope Carmel gets the boot due to her not making her quota due to her disdain for any bride with a budget of $2,500 and under. She treats them like crap and acts like she is being put out that they are not buying the expensive dresses.

OH! I saw that one! And I was floored that she wanted it to be more see through. I really thought she had to be in porno.Who wears a dress like that? And in front of her dad!!:sad2:

Bought my dress at an outlet type bridal store for $400 in the year 2000. It was actually the first dress I looked at. The funny thing is that it was one of the dresses I had pulled out of a bridal magazine from 4 years earlier from when my sister got married. It was love at first sight and I was thrilled I didn't have to spend hours trying on dresses. I did end up trying on 2 others. $25K is outrageous for a dress - some people are so spoiled.

Kleinfeld's has an exclusive with designer Pnina Tornai. Some of the other dresses are also pretty exclusive to their store, the reason people do travel from all over the country to get their gown there.

Soooo what does a 25K wedding dress look like? Off to google

especially for something you wear once!!! I could buy a ford focus for that amount of money!

This is similar to the top she had ordered. If I recall correctly, she wanted the bra see through too.

Pretty much the same as a $2500(or less) wedding dress, just add a few zeros!

Too bad a lot of brides focus on the beauty of the dress and not how beautiful they should look wearing the dress.

Often, one sees only "the dress" walking down the isle, not the bride, as the gown overpowers them!
