Getting older in some way sucks, but in other ways has so many wonderful compensations. It is so freeing. I love the company of women my age or older, we're past the competitive "don't advertise your man" stage, and can really enjoy fulfilling relationships with one another. If DH God forbid dies before I do, I'll never remarry. I'll just get a young boyfriend and live in a house with a bunch of other old ladies, just like they did in The Golden Girls.

:rotfl: We have you beat, we are all moving into the Women's Home when necessary, and plan on spending our days pinching the butts of the male orderlies, and smoking pot. (For medicinal reasons only...)

heh heh, I'm liking that idea too Michelle! Do they have a pool and pool boys at this Women's Home? :rotfl:

I have it in my head that all Texan men are sexy. Please don't burst my bubble  :cloud9:

I think we could come up with financing for that... :: poolboy ::

rats...no emoticon!

I should be studying…. Just a little break :p

I hate politics.
I hate my local government.
I hate that people are so ignorant in these island.
I hate that many people here can’t decide what they want for their future, independence or not. Blah
I hate that people here (P.R.) think that with a strike can solve anything.
I dislike other puertorricans outside the island. They have more love than I do.
I hate that my cousins in the states think we all hear that nasty music (reggeatón-rap) or that I live in the middle of nowhere with no McDonald's or Kmart near me.
I hate McDonald's.

I love my nieces and nephews.
I don’t want children anymore.
I hate the way my oldest nephew is, so depress all the time. He was such a joy when little.
I don’t like my sil and never will.

I am pro-choice, do whatever you want with your body. But I won’t do an abortion.
I believe in God and pray every night.
I don’t go to church. Don’t read the bible.
What I know about God is self-learned. Never believe what my private Christian school taught me.
Pro-gay marriages.

I hate that my mom smokes. Since she was 11 yrs old and can't stop. And has admitted that she just can't. :guilty:
I hate that people are so ignorant and tell her nasty stuff when she is smoking. It’s her life not yours.
It saddens me seeing my dad sick.

I prefer to read in English than in Spanish.
I want to learn Portuguese.

Immigration problems happen everywhere. USA wants hispanics/ others out. We want Dominicans out. Other than that I agree with most of what other posters have said.

It drives me crazy to read “America” instead of “North America” or “South America” and don’t know why.

I dislike being the fat girl of my class, but I don't care for the first time in my life.
I hate feeling lonely in a classroom of 40. The joy of being freshmen and not knowing anyone. :guilty:
I hate that we started school earlier because of a stupid strike. The University of P.R. does need the money idiots.

I love my parents, even though I have never told them.
I love that they would do whatever to make me happy.
I dislike that they think they have to do whatever to make me happy.
I love that my sister finally believes in my future career and me.
I love my new laptop.
I love the internet.
I love learning.
I love music.
I love dogs. Starting to like cats, but dogs are better. :dog:
I love WDW. :cheer2:

Hey, we are all sexy, at least when viewed from a great distance.

Common sense needs a new name, since apparently it is not at all common.

Some people just like to have drama all the time.

There are days when I just don't like my employees, nor have any interest in making them happy.

Another one--

Don't move to the south then complain about how everything is done here. If you don't like it you can move back. (I tell DH this at least once a week)

Not always true. Unfortunately, the military TELLS us where we have to live. We BEGGED them not to send us back to Phoenix. We loved Alaska, so as you can imagine, the Phoenix weather is not OUR personal favorite. Where do we live, yet again?? Phoenix!! And if they tell us we have to go back to Mississippi, I will cry a lot, but I will have no choice.

Not flaming, just pointing out one of the many WONDERFUL (sarcasm) things about being married to the military!

I can't stand that no matter how many times I remind my boys to "aim true" our RRs still smell like boy!

I hate the man who was standing on the corner with a war protest sign when we were driving home from the airport during my husband's R&R. He shouldn't have had to see how ungrateful some people can be on his first day home. :(

I hate when people find out my husband is deployed and go on and on about this "stupid war" and think they're being supportive.

I hate that my 5 year old, my 80 something year old in-laws and I were selected for extra screening when we went to pick up DH at the airport. We had military id's and were holding "welcome home daddy" signs. 5 year old children are not terrorists. Sorry if that offends anyone.

I hate that well over a third of my paycheck goes to support people who are unwilling to support themselves.

I hate that my sister makes me feel bad because I'm not interested in "Mother Goose Monday" or "Patty's Play Palace" Just because I have a 5 year old doesn't mean I have to act like one!

Okay, here goes the rant (not necessarily in order of importance!):

1) Teens of either gender wearing pants so low that I can clearly see their underwear. :earseek:
2) Why are corporations able to make contributions to our political representatives? Only people should be allowed to contribute.
3) I don't really see a meaningful difference between republican and democratic politicians anymore.
4) I have never voted for a presidential candidate I was truly enthusiastic about. Why do I have to vote for the "lesser of two evils?"
5) Dialogue regarding race is always about black and white. What about everyone else?
6) Abercrombie & Fitch store for tweens sells thong underwear for girls as young as 8. :earseek:
7) The high cost of housing in the U.S., and particularly here in the Metro NYC area. Who are all of these people who have a million dollars and more to spend on home, anyway?!? (I picked a million since that is the average price of a 2 BR apt. in NYC).
8) I hate that some people (both men and women) think that my having a career is about making some kind of a political statement, rather than the fact that I have to keep a roof over my head.
9) I hate that my employer's policy is to give only six weeks of maternity leave, and that I don't think that I can afford to just take some unpaid leave when that time should come (I'm not pregnant yet).
10) I'm really tired of all the white male bashing, or just plain male bashing (remember the "boys are stupid" tee shirts?) If it isn't okay to do to females or minority groups, that doesn't suddenly make it okay to do to anyone else.
11) Everything that's wrong in your life is not someone else's fault.
12) For every $63 in federal tax paid from incomes in the state of New Jersey, New Jersey gets back $1 from the federal gov't; and we have the potholes and really high state income tax and property tax to prove it!
13) Along the same lines that it is ridiculous to frisk as many little old ladies and Norwegians as Arabs in the airports so that we can pretend we are not racially profiling, it is equally ridiculous for Idaho (no offense to Idaho) to get the same amount of federal money to fight terrorism as New York. Come on! :confused3
14) Sick to death of how many recent college graduates come to the workplace and think that just because they show up and breathe that they should not only collect a paycheck, but get a promotion and a raise in three months. And give attitude. And have no respect or appreciation for experience.
15) I don't like how GW Bush has manipulated some people into thinking that everything is about morality, when in fact the vast majority of what he does is about making his cronies even more disgustingly wealthy than they already are.
16) Actors (i.e. movie stars) who think that they're the authority on everything including foreign policy. Stick to acting.

Now for the raves! :cheer2:

1) Sunsets
2) The (*knock on wood*) continued good health of all of my nearest and dearest.
3) Thank goodness I have a job :sunny:
4) Will Ferrell :rotfl2:
5) Liberty (and huge thanks to our soldiers for backing it up)
6) Chocolate :teeth:
7) The magic at WDW and the CM's who make it happen.
8) All you DIS'ers (y'all are fun) - I know, corny.
9) Hard work, honesty and resourcefulness really do pay off, even when cheaters cheat! :)
10) Central AC (frivolous, but it's my rave ;) ).
11) Abraham Lincoln was the most extraordinary president we've ever had. Franklin D. Roosevelt is a close second.
12) Yoga
13) Ice cold beer on hot, hot summer night.
14) The generous spirits of my friends.
15) The crew on space shuttle Discovery :cheer2:
16) Watching "It Happened One Night" on TCM with DH and eating a bowl of ice cream. :flower:

So there! :smooth:

I hate driving
I believe the DaVinci Code
I think Lindsay Lohan is too skinny
I like Paris Hilton
It scares me that GWB is president
I love NY
I hate ignorance
Animals are better than people
Dolphins are smarter than humans
I don't like to watch breast feeding
I think that people that leave children alone in hot cars and pools wanted to hurt them :guilty:
Some children are evil
but people are generally good
Guns don't scare me
Please don't thorw trash on the ground-that is beyond ignorant
A lot of people regret being parents
I shop at Wal Mart but I hate what it is doing to America :confused3
I hate that big companies are ruining the environment and we are mostly powerless
We let in illegal immigrants for cheap labour
I am sad for Africa
I am glad I live in America
I am proud of the USA mostly
I am glad Walt was so creative

DO NOT pull out in front of me and then drive freaking 25 miles an hour! That makes me crazy, possibly to the point of road rage!

Here's my 2 cents

I hate how my DH and DD's are treated one way when they think they are Mexican but when people find out that they are American Indian it is a different story.

I hate the way people talk about GWB. He is our President. I didn't like Clinton but once he was elected then it was my duty as an American to support him.

I don't want Hiliary Clinton as President!

I am tired of the White Male bashing. Even though my DH is not white I feel that the white Male gets a very raw deal.

I don't agree with gay marriage but I do feel that gay couples should be able to list their partner as next of kin, put them on their insurance, etc.

I wish parents that pay big dollars for their kids to do sports would help within the organizations or at least buy out their part of the fundraising.

I can't stand to hear actors preaching politics.

I can't stand to see young kids spend years in jail for petty crimes and people that do the foulest things get probation or very small sentences.

Things I do like

I love being a native Texan!!!

I love the South and love the attitude that it carries.

I love to travel.

I love Universal more than Disney.

Positive
1 My husband is the most wonderful human being I've ever met. He's a much better person than I am, and he always makes me want to better myself. And he's way more liberal than I am!
2 Mickey Mouse! ::MickeyMo Mickey for President 2008!!!
3 Being a vegetarian. It's soooooo nice to not feel guilty about the food I eat.
4 I also love being an environmentalist/liberal/feminist/animal lover. So there! :flower:
5 I sponsor a Paraguayan girl through Childreach (aka Plan International) and her letters to me are so cute!
6 Hawaiian music is so beautiful and relaxing.
7 The internet is the best thing ever! I just love soaking up all the information that's out there.
8 I love being a homeowner!
9 The best people are those who strive for positive change in the world, who make a difference in people's lives.
10 Traveling! After my next trip to WDW, DH and I will go to Peru and see Machu Picchu!
11 Someday gays will be able to get married everywhere in this country. :teeth:
12 Chocolate is God's way of saying he loves us and wants us to be happy.
13 Someday I'm going to have a child in whom my husband and I are going to instill the liberal way of thinking... mwahahahaha! ;)

Negative
1 It infuriates me that gays are prevented from marrying by bigots. It's so pointless.
2 Some people who have known me for years STILL bring up my vegetarianism when we eat a meal together, without my having said a word to them about eating meat. Get over it already. I guess they feel bad about eating cows. (Cows are so cute; it wouldn't surprise me people feel guilty. I know I used to.)
3 On a related note, it bugs me when there are commercials for meat products that depict an animal selling its own flesh. Um, chickens wouldn't really shill for KFC, y'know.
4 The Disney freaks who don't think that they need to visit other countries because they've been to World Showcase puzzle me.
5 I hate willful ignorance. Why not try to see what another person's viewpoint is?
6 People think that animal rights/human rights/environmental rights groups have an agenda other than trying to make the world a better place.
7 I hate it when people lie, and then lie about lying.
8 Bigotry and prejudice are such awful things. Pick a group of people, any group, and you'll be surprised at the people they actually are.
9 Tibet isn't free.
10 The adoption agency I worked for charged a discounted adoption fee for black and bi-racial children (part black, part white) but not for any other race or mix. Nobody wanted black babies; we had to turn away black birth mothers.
11 Smokers who throw their cigarette butts on the ground have to stop doing that! Use an ashtray!!!!
