Okay, here goes the rant (not necessarily in order of importance!):
1) Teens of either gender wearing pants so low that I can clearly see their underwear.
2) Why are corporations able to make contributions to our political representatives? Only
people should be allowed to contribute.
3) I don't really see a meaningful difference between republican and democratic politicians anymore.
4) I have never voted for a presidential candidate I was truly enthusiastic about. Why do I have to vote for the "lesser of two evils?"
5) Dialogue regarding race is always about black and white. What about everyone else?
6) Abercrombie & Fitch store for tweens sells thong underwear for girls as young as 8.
7) The high cost of housing in the U.S., and particularly here in the Metro NYC area. Who are all of these people who have a million dollars and more to spend on home, anyway?!? (I picked a million since that is the average price of a 2 BR apt. in NYC).
8) I hate that some people (both men and women) think that my having a career is about making some kind of a political statement, rather than the fact that I have to keep a roof over my head.
9) I hate that my employer's policy is to give only six weeks of maternity leave, and that I don't think that I can afford to just take some unpaid leave when that time should come (I'm not pregnant yet).
10) I'm really tired of all the white male bashing, or just plain male bashing (remember the "boys are stupid" tee shirts?) If it isn't okay to do to females or minority groups, that doesn't suddenly make it okay to do to anyone else.
11) Everything that's wrong in your life is not someone else's fault.
12) For every $63 in federal tax paid from incomes in the state of New Jersey, New Jersey gets back $1 from the federal gov't; and we have the potholes and really high state income tax and property tax to prove it!
13) Along the same lines that it is ridiculous to frisk as many little old ladies and Norwegians as Arabs in the airports so that we can pretend we are not racially profiling, it is equally ridiculous for Idaho (no offense to Idaho) to get the same amount of federal money to fight terrorism as New York. Come on!
14) Sick to death of how many recent college graduates come to the workplace and think that just because they show up and breathe that they should not only collect a paycheck, but get a promotion and a raise in three months. And give attitude. And have no respect or appreciation for experience.
15) I don't like how GW Bush has manipulated some people into thinking that everything is about morality, when in fact the vast majority of what he does is about making his cronies even more disgustingly wealthy than they already are.
16) Actors (i.e. movie stars) who think that they're the authority on everything including foreign policy. Stick to acting.
Now for the raves!
1) Sunsets
2) The (*knock on wood*) continued good health of all of my nearest and dearest.
3) Thank goodness I have a job
4) Will Ferrell
5) Liberty (and huge thanks to our soldiers for backing it up)
6) Chocolate
7) The magic at WDW and the CM's who make it happen.
8) All you DIS'ers (y'all are fun) - I know, corny.
9) Hard work, honesty and resourcefulness really do pay off, even when cheaters cheat!
10) Central AC (frivolous, but it's my rave

).
11) Abraham Lincoln was the most extraordinary president we've ever had. Franklin D. Roosevelt is a close second.
12) Yoga
13) Ice cold beer on hot, hot summer night.
14) The generous spirits of my friends.
15) The crew on space shuttle Discovery
16) Watching "It Happened One Night" on TCM with DH and eating a bowl of ice cream.
So there!
