I went to the River Belle Terrace for lunch on Sunday. I had been craving the vegetable stew. Much to my shock- they are not selling it! Does anyone know if they will start serving this again? my wife is a vegetarian- and her options at disney are VERY limited.

Did she try the veggie po'boy I've read they now offer?

I've been reading about the new menu over on another board, and no one seems happy with the changes.

Since I actually brought the vegetarian gumbo (in bread bowl) from Royal St Veranda over to where my family was eating at River Belle Terrace in '06, I don't know if their veggie stew was good, but it's too bad it's gone!

it was so, so good. She doesn't mind the gumbo, she's gotten it at the French market cafe. It is just sad that there is such a lack of vegetarian food at disney.

I think that the next time I visit I'll definitely take some time to drop off a note about needing to expand their veg offerings.

On the other hand, Storyteller's breakfast buffet had vegetarian "sausage" patties when we went. :)

Since I personally am happy with the gumbo and the chili, I don't stress too much about foods for me, but I've now gone gung-ho in protecting my son, who cannot eat high fructose corn syrup (or regular corn syrup, it turns out), and those ding-dang "uncrustables" that make up the kid's non-meat meals have both of those stupid ingredients! So that's my other crusade for our next trip (though I think I'll send them a letter soon), along with the suggestion of more veggie items. (russa frussa, get rid of the ice cream sandwiches b/c of trans fat, but keep the HFCS which turns my kiddo into a dragon, as we have deemed it, and isn't even a "food" to begin with)

They have so many great sandwiches at Carnation Cafe (among other places) I am wondering how difficult it would be for them to create a vegetarian-style sandwich there????

I do wish there were some more healthy choices for meals at DL. There are some good snacks like the veggie snack trays with ranch dip, dill pickles, and lots of fruit like mango, apples, etc. (we bought these at DCA and enjoyed a lot!)

so sorry about the veggie stew.......let us know if you find something else that you like as well!

I'm not a vegetarian, but the veggie chili at DCA (I think? @ pacific wharf?) is so good... and cheese on a stick at the corn dog castle...
