I couldn't understand why I got a message in VMK from Aengus saying "congrats!" to me. Then suddenly I got swarmed with more messages. It wasn't until I went to the Emporium that Esmeralda greeted me with "CL_BriarLori" that I was ROFLMAO at this new development.
And the kicker? I never truly applied. You know, the questionaire? Never got one to answer. The only think I could think happened was wayyyyy back when VMK first started, I chose the "I want to become a Community Leader" link via Contact Us. I received the canned response of, "We think you need more time in the Kingdom. Apply again later."
Well, I saw my friends become leaders and realized, "Nah, I don't want to apply. I'm perfectly happy helping out without the title." Then this happened. to me.
Seriously, I thought it was quite a cosmic joke that I became a leader after about two years after my first curiosity attempt at it. 
Maybe someone in VMK saw that I've answered questions and such and thought, "Hey, why not. Make her a leader."?
Oh, I found out that I'm not the only one completely shocked that we both became leaders today. CL_GoofyGeggy celebrated his birthday with the news. He also never filled out a questionaire.
