Say a prayer for us!

Your father and your family are in all of our thoughts and prayers! Be strong and have faith that he will win this battle :grouphug: (Our trip may be cancelled too but for financial reasons. I pray that he will be strong enough to join you for your anticipated Spring trip!)
Thank you for your prayers! I am self employed and my business has dropped off 40% in the last year so I can relate.

On the plus side, I am starting a new and exciting business (DVC related - yay!) which keeps my mind occupied in a good way.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers!

I sit here all teary eyed just reading your post...I lost my own Dad to lung cancer about 3 years ago. It's a beast of a disease (as any cancer is I suppose). I recall the first few weeks and months after his "unoffical" diagnosis and all the anxiety and concern that we all felt and had such a difficult time expressing. A very difficult time for any family for sure! Our prayers are definately with your family!!

Early on, I found a website that was invaluable for information and support and thought I would pass it along to you...

http://lungevity.org/l_community/index.php

Now is the time to live for today...everyday, spend as much time as possible with him and cling tightly to these memories (and others) in the days ahead, these memories and the love of your family will see you all through whatever is to come.

If you have any questions or just need to bounce things off someone who has in many ways "been there - done that" please send me an PM. While our journey may be VERY different from what your family has or will experience, I found it was always helpful to know that there were others on a similar path.

May the peace of God's grace be with you and your family as you progress on this journey!

Cindy
Cindy,

THANK YOU! This website is a huge blessing. I have forwarded the link to all of my siblings and they say thank you also.

I am so sorry for your loss. My wife passed away 2 years ago after a 13 year battle with colon cancer so in a sense I have lived it before but nothing prepares you for this. My brother and sister have never dealt with serious illness within the family before and are having really tough time with it. They both fell away from the church many years ago so they are having a hard time seeing any hope. Maybe this is God's path of bringing a change in their lives. That is my prayer.

Thank you once again for your support!

Praying for your dad and your family! hopes that you can enjoy Spring training together in a few months!

I lost my dad 3 years ago to lung cancer...it is an awful disease, but there are new and better treatments being developed all the time! Sending a big :grouphug: out to you!

Our prayers are with you and your family. We just found out my mom had bladder cancer and, at 97, her doctors are saying that they don't really want to operate. But the doc that found it wants to.

Good news is that it is very slow growing and they told her it will likley be years before it starts impacting her and that she will likely die of natural causes before that. Bedside manners really have to be worked on!

Docs at Sloan Kettering told us that cancer in the main trunk of the body rarely travels up past the neck - almost like there is an invisible shield that keeps Head and Neck issues above and trunk issues below.

I hope all goes well with your Dad's treatment. I will say my prayers for a speedy recovery for him!

Aww, news like that is just like the biggest punch in the stomach - all the air comes out of you, doesn't it? I will certainly pray for your dad, and for you and the rest of the family. Lean on God, he will get you through it and can bring you peace. Your biggest job right now is to help your dad to stay positive, and imagine the best outcome. Remember, whatever you ask for in prayer, if you believe you have already received it, it can be yours.

Thank everyone. I just returned from our first visit with the oncologist. Dad starts radiation for one week on Monday followed by 4 rounds of chemo spaced 3 weeks apart.

Dad is a Army veteran so he is getting all of his treatment at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Durham NC. Without exception we have not met a nicer group of people to deal with. The nurses, PAs and doctors have been great! They are pleasant, competent and spend as much time with daddy as needed. They deserve much praise! :worship:

Prayer is such a powerful tool! I will pray for you and your family.:grouphug: God willing, your Dad will get better...
