i showed my boys those pics and i had wondered this question myself but i figured i'd worry about it when we got there.okay so here it is:we were looking at the dd and ssr pics , when one of my boys asked how we would get to dd form ssr.i told him we would walk and then i looked at the pics again and it sure looked like a hike so i then spotted a dock on the dd side and told him there would probably be a boat but i don't see anything like that on the ssr side.is that correct and what kind of sched would it run?is that the theme pool with the slide at the water's edge?

The pool you see is the quiet pool for Bldgs 1-4.

There will be a boat dock - it's off-picture to the left in picture of the first four buildings.

Check out tjkraz's wonderful SSR FAQ for a lot more info. From there, I found these links:

WebmasterDoc's SSR Photos - there's a photo of the SSR Marina.

SSR Map - you can see the Boat Dock at the far left.

As to schedules - that's unknown. Maybe some OKWers can chime in with their OKW-DTD schedule info.

if it is the same place that the DI was - it is very, very close to DD - so maybe the pictures were just off????

It is no further than the BCV from Epcot (probably closer) - my opinion - I haven't measure it.

But if you exit the map at the bottom right, where it says "walkway to downtown disney" it is only a one or two hundred yards walk to places like Rainforest Cafe etc etc.

I just got back Mon from WDW. Due to business in the DTD area we were at DTD a lot. During one of our trips to and from our Disney resort we stopped at SSR. Since the workers were gone for the day the guard let us drive part way into the resort. It looks gorgeous and it is very conveniently located to DTD! The view from the villas will be fantastic at night with DTD/PI across the water. There is a very convenient and easy walking pathway to DTD. For those that like a resort that is in the middle of action this resort is great, especially for late nighttime entertainment and easy transport to all areas of Disney through the DTD bus stops.
I can definitely see trips to SSR in my future; especially on trips that I combine business and pleasure.

Actually, the DTD bus stops will be great to get to the other resorts for meals, etc. I don't think that the DTD buses will stop at any of the parks directly. But since SSR will have their own buses to all the parks, people staying at SSR will have both transportation needs covered.

In order to get to DTD from any of the parks, people have to hop on a resort bus and transfer over to the DTD bus from the resort.

When we were at the bus stop at one of parks, I heard the bus drivers recommend taking the CBR bus to transfer to the DTD bus.

I wonder if the bus drivers will advise people to take the SSR bus and either walk to DTD from there or tranfer to the boat to DTD. I assume that there will be no bus to DTD from SSR, only boats.

Maybe the fact (?) that there probably won't be another another bus to transfer to DTD will have the bus drivers continuing to recommend the CBR bus as the best way to get to DTD.

too many times in the past they were recommending OKW - well I did not complaint - but obviously someone complainted if they are now recommending CBR.

so if they got fussed at for recommending a DVC resort - they probably won't do it again.

of course it won't take some day guest long to decide to walk over to SSR on their own. but hey maybe they will buy and become owners too.

spiceycat,

I assumed that they weren't recommending OKW because HH is not always the first stop. So, the riders would potentially be getting a scenic tour around the entire OKW resort before getting off at HH to transfer to another bus.

Hey maybe that's why the OKW buses don't always stop at HH first. Didn't they use to stop there first and last sometimes?

But technically, to transfer to DTD from the parks, they tell you that you can ride on ANY resort bus. The recommended resort is CBR (for now) because of the proximity to DTD and ease of transfer, I guess.

So, sorry to have gotten this thread off topic!

SSR sounds like it will be a great location to stay!!

'cause it sure looks like a hell of a walk(unless you do it on water!).i can't imagine walking to ssr from dd or vise versa.i'll be taking the boat or driving.what am i missing that you guys are seeing?

Depending upon which building you start from, it could be a bit of a hike....but isn't that what WDW is all about? ;) It also depends where in DD you are walking to. I'm not that familiar with the set-up but I think you would be coming into the Marketplace part of DD and then have to make your way over to DD. Pre-Disney Institute (and maybe during) guests also had an option to rent golf carts. I remember folks could drive them up to the Marketplace entrance area and park them there.

It might be better if it is a hike, that will help keep DDT visitors from wondering all over SSR, to help keep the resort quiet and peaceful for DVC guests.
