Saving tickets form a package for later

Would assume that after the expiration date (I currently have some from last year that expire 12/31/18) they could be used only as a credit and maybe not good for advanced FP anymore...

Yup.
No FP+ booking is possible using an expired ticket.

It took me about one minute to make a dummy profile, which saved me from going to guest relations and asking them to prioritize my tickets. You may not have to do that either, but I am a nervous enough person to want to make sure it's all correct.
Is that how you do it? Does guest services have to prioritize the tickets? I have NE tickets, and I just bought APs. I have magic bands and I want to use them with the APs when I activate them and save the rest of the NE tickets for a future year. Can guest services do it all, or is there something I need to do? (The NE tickets are assigned and a few days have been used) TIA

1. This is a proven workaround that a guest can do.
2. Guest Relations can prioritize tickets. Guests cannot change ticket priority.
3. Yes.
4. If your NE tickets have never been used, you can transfer them to a "fake name" account.
But, since your NE tickets HAVE been partially used, they cannot be transferred.

When you go to Guest Relations to activate your new AP(s,) have the CM set the priority of
your tickets so that the AP will be used and not your NE tickets.

The tickets in the packages don't become active until check in day. At that time you can move an unused ticket to a dummy family member profile. If you try before that you will get the message the PP posted.

You can purchase the 1 day ticket, have it linked to your band, and BEFORE you enter a park reassign the 4 day ticket. CM's will tell you they can prioritize the tickets but I'm always worrying that my MDE account will be the glitch of the day and not get it right. Moving the unused ticket to another "person" is fool proof. You FP res should not drop as long as there are active tickets in your MDE account. I know they can fix any errors but I don't want to waste time at customer service to do it, would rather just tap and enter the park with no worries.

And for reference, you can move these unused tickets back and forth to yourself for advance FP purposes and then back to the dummy profile as long as they are unused. Would assume that after the expiration date (I currently have some from last year that expire 12/31/18) they could be used only as a credit and maybe not good for advanced FP anymore, need to wait and see on that.

It's not really complicated, just add a placeholder name to your "friends and family" list, then reassign the ticket. Takes only a minute.

Perfect! This is finally starting to make sense! Thank you!

One thing...these days tickets do expire, even if they are unused. After they expire though, you will be able to pay the difference (value vs. current gate price) to use them. They don't disappear, you just have to pay the difference to update them (though that might not be the exact correct Disney term).

I just wanted to make sure, we are getting APs this year, but are hoping to get a free dining BB for May/June which we will have to buy tickets for. We can keep those tickets, but if we don’t use them by the expiration date (12/31/19). We can use them at a later date and just pay the cost difference between them and the new ticket price. Can we also add days to them at that time?

1. You would not be "using" the expired tickets at all.
You would just be getting their "value" (what you paid for them)
in a transaction of buying NEW current tickets at the new price.

2. So, looking at my first answer... you'd not actually be "adding days" to the old expired ticket.
BUT, you could choose to BUY any NEW ticket (with more "days" than your original old ticket, if you like) at that future time using the old expired tickets' "value" as part of the payment.

That is my understanding of how it will work, based on what you say here.

May I tag in on this thread? I may have two family members join us in December, and I have room in my room. I know I need to add them to the booking, however their tickets associated with our package will not be used at all, they are already all set. I am not opposed to paying the package cost if I know I can use the two tickets later on. Is this possible? This is the first time I need to worry about something I paid for and potentially will not be able to use.

Yes you could reassign those tickets after check in and use them yourself later. Keep in mind that if you have a Dining Plan they'll be added to that too. You can also add additional guests at the desk when you check in then they won't have to be added to your package and you won't have to shell out for extra tickets now

If I can use them myself later on I am good. Adding them to my dining plan is fine, I intend to feed them anyway, so if I can use the tix later I would rather just add them, pay for the whole shebang and be done. There will always be another trip in the works for us so if I can use the tickets later on it's perfect.

Thank you!

Let me see if I have this all correct....

My wife and I each have 2 days remaining on a 4-day hopper-no-expiration-date ticket. I just look at MDE and saw that under our name it reads "Reassign Ticket". Also, we are traveling to WDW this November for 3 nights / 4 days and purchase 2 day 1-park tickets for each of us (had to purchase a minimum of 2 1-park tickets to get Disney Dining Plan).

We want to use the 2 day 1-park tickets before we use our 2 day no-expiration date tickets. So, I can "reassign" the no-expiration date tickets to a "dummy" accounts in order to make sure the 2-day 1-park tickets are used first. During our trip down, can I then "reassign" the no-expiration date tickets from the "dummy" accounts back to our actual accounts so we can use one on our 3rd day during this trip.

Did I have it right??

Regardless of the stated option, it is unlikely that you will be able to actually reassign your partially-used Tickets.
