Saving steps in Fantasyland

Question: What order would you ride Fantasyland attractions to minimize steps?

Trip is next spring. We have 7 adults, 2 little kids using DAS and a toddler. Our strategy, when our oldest was 4, was to spend 3 hours in the parks in the am and 2 in the late afternoon. We’re going to change things up this trip. We’ll try to spend all of that time in the parks and be done for the day by 3.

Most of the attractions are all right there together, so ride order doesn’t matter all that much for the attractions around the castle as far as step count goes.

Castle Walkthrough, Peter Pan, Mr Toad, Snow White, Pinocchio, Carousel, Dumbo, Casey Jr are all right there together. Doing those in any order would be pretty similar in step count.

Tea Cups, Alice, and Storybook Canal are around the corner to the east of that main group.

Matterhorn is a little further East of Tea Cups.

And Small World is to the north of Matterhorn.

So, to minimize walking, do the attractions in each section before moving on. Of course you’ll still need to walk back from Small World.

It’s not all that large of an area, they’re all really close, with Small World being the only one that’s a little away from the others. But to put it in perspective, you’ll walk farther down Main Street to get to Fantasyland, than you will doing all these Fantasyland attractions.

Using DAS completely changes any plans I would normally suggest because you will return to the kiosk between Dumbo and Casey Jr. in order to get your return times. Additionally, depending on the advance DAS you get, you can avoid long wait such as for Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland.

There are just some rides that make sense to do as a set due to the exit of one ride basically being at the entrance of the other. So that would be Dumbo to Casey Jr., Snow White to Pinocchio, Peter Pan to Mr. Toad, and Mad Tea Party to Alice in Wonderland (although I recommend doing Alice with DAS first due to average wait times).

Assuming you arrive early enough, I would recommend going to Dumbo, then Casey Jr. There, you can get DAS for Snow White or Peter Pan. If the return time is close, you can do the Carousel and then do that ride. If the return time is a while away, you can do the Castle Walkthrough and then that ride. After either Snow White + Pinocchio or Peter Pan + Mr. Toad, you can get your DAS for the other one and finish up the attractions in that area before moving on to Alice in Wonderland, Mad Tea Party and Storybook Land. Once you're done with those, you end with It's a Small World (I assume you skip Matterhorn because of the toddler). Ideally, you'd have an advance DAS for Alice in Wonderland starting around 2 hours after you arrive at the park and an advance DAS for It's a Small World starting 3 hours after you arrive so that you can skip those waits and use your regular DAS for Storybook Land or Mad Tea Party, whichever is longer.

This is an untested itinerary though as I don't use DAS.

Just a heads up...the Guest Services umbrellas moved when I was there last week, so the one normally near Dumbo is no longer there. There's now one where the Matterhorn FP used to be and the other one is past Red Rose Tavern bathrooms when heading towards SWGE or Frontierland. This may change again before your trip, so double check the locations in the app.

I did get a chance to use the DAS in the app, and it is sooo convenient now. It won't appear until after you've scanned into the park and only allows you to request rides for the park you've scanned into, but it's so nice to no longer have to go to GS to request your next return time. If you would like to book a ride in the other park, this can still be done at GS.

Just one note: teacups may be short enough to not need return time. It's super hit or miss, but often it's a 15 minute wait or less which they won't issue a return time for anyways.

Thank you all.💙

I think it’s the trek back to small world that’s making my head spin in circles. It’s ok to double steps. 🤣

I appreciate the details about dumbo to Casey jr. Because of covid it’s been 3 years since we were there with kids. 😞

I am super excited about digital DAS. In the past we only used DAS for a couple of fantasyland rides. Then we used maxpass the rest of the time. It’s like the puns people have left in the genie thread. We couldn’t stand in line to save time standing in line. They’d totally melt down. They are much better with 3 years growth but anxiety and sensory over load can still completely derail them.
