Just found an amazing way to save some money on our park tickets. Mods if this is in the wrong place feel free to move. Since we own DVC and don't purchase park tickets in packages through Disney, I am always looking for ways to save money on the largest ticket item for our trips. I stumbled across the Disney Yes Educational Program. You can sign up your kids for awesome educational classes and then purchase discounted park tickets for the whole family!

We are going to Disney World in August with our 4 kids ages 14, 12, 9, & 9. I was planning on buying 6 day MYW park tickets for the kids, and it would have been $940. My husband and I have AP's and don't need tickets.

I signed up the kids for a Disney Yes Educational Program and was able to buy 7 day Premium passes, that include 7 fun visits that can include water park passes, park hopping, water parks, and Disney Quest for $833! It was $194 per 7 day Premium Ticket. Plus we get to do a 3hr class on sound and energy at Magic Kingdom, and we get to go backstage at Haunted Mansion!

If you are looking into buying just tickets this is a gold mine of savings! It would have cost over $1400 for those same tickets! I could have bought tickets for my husband and I too at that price!

It's great, isn't it?!
I've been looking into this on the Dis here, since I found that it was open to individuals. There are threads here with lots of info. I am hoping that it is still available in the fall of 2012 when we will be able to return to WDW. My grandkids will be 5 and 10 then, and would sooo love these classes! Heck, I would love these classes!:thumbsup2 And then to get park tickets at a reduced rate! No downside there!
Wish we could go sooner.

I saw one of those threads here last night and was so excited I could barely sleep last night I saved over between $100-$450 on the kid's park tickets and we can do a cool class, extend our park days and add park hopping and water parks! I purchased our tickets today! My kids were excited about the class, park hopping, and the water parks, which I thought we were not going to be able to afford this year!

Yeah, there's a long thread here about the YES program. I did it last year and am doing it again this year. You have to book early though; our class in August has been closed for weeks.

so where do they meet up? where are the parents, do we drop them off for the 3 hours?

if my dc is 7 1/2 you think the 8 yo group would be ok?

What an awesome deal and what an opportunity for the children! I hope that they continue this next year as my granddaughter who will be 17 at the time would love the art aspects of it. Please come back and give us a report on how this worked out for you.

so if the 3 day is $134, does that mean kids get to go to the park for 3 days + the educational group, or is that used for it?

what about florida residents?

thanks

It depends on where the class is, but usually they meet outside the park early in the morning. One parent per child can attend. The rest can do whatever, but can't get into the park until it opens.

Evidently, they are pretty strict on ages due to safety concerns. You have to give ages when you sign up, so you would have to lie.

You have to use one of your days for the class, so unless you get hoppers, you would need to do whatever park the class was in that day. There is no discount for Florida residents with YES. You are already getting about a 40% discount off regular ticket prices.

My family of 8 got 7 day park hoppers for $1500. Disney price would have been $2500. Tickets are non-refundable and only good for the time period surrounding your class(one week prior to your arrival date to one week after your departure date) They are also only for immediate family of the child attending the class(parents, siblings, and grandparents)

There is lots of information on the thread I posted a link to
