Our funds are a little tight for our upcoming trip so we won't be able to do the golf cart thing for the Fort...

DH, DS and I all love riding bikes but I was getting a little concerned about how tired DS may be at the end of the day plus how we were going to transport all our items.

I found a used bike trailer for $30 on Craigs List. It's in great shape and now my transportation problems are solved.

Okay, this may sound like a dumb question, but we have never been the FW before and hopefully, this April will be our first stay here.

Are you saying that you will bike from your campsite/cabin to the bus stop to take you to the parks? You leave your bikes there? I'm assuming there must be some sort of bike rack. Do you lock your bikes up there?

Not a dumb question..

We will use our bikes to go to the different things at FW like the pools, the beach, the horses, the sing-a-long, the evening movie, etc. There are bike racks at all of these areas in FW.

Each loop has a bus stop nearby so you can just walk to the bus stop so no need to ride your bike there.

Okay, that makes sense. That is a really good idea for the bike trailer. I will have to look into that for our trip. Do they have a bike path for bikers or do you ride on the road?

Good for you! Sounds like a great solution. We love, love, love riding our bikes all over the Fort.

As to where we ride, we'll ride on the sidewalks unless there are pedestrians, in which case we'll take the street.

You can ride bikes on sidewalks or streets. There's a path connecting FtW to WL that's a pretty bike ride. When we are not in view of our bikes we lock them up. No reason to tempt anyone to become a criminal! (LOL)

We've been to the fort lots of times and never rented a golf cart. We've always used our bike trailer, and DH does a great job of getting in everything we need.

Just a tip, we take a double stroller (although before DD was here, a single stroller) and bungee cord it in the back of the cart...does that make sense? We have a Burley? brand, Anyway, it works. So, the tip would be to bring bungee cords for this (if you even plan on taking a stroller and making it work) and also maybe a small tarp or something to bungee over the top when you park it. If not, you might come back to find the bottom of the cart full of water from an afternoon shower. I also took plastic bags to tie over the bicycle seats so our bottoms wouldn't be too wet and uncomfortatble for the ride back to the TT.

Worked for us...hope it helps...have fun!!

Great ideas!!!

We usually ride on the sidewalks. I am planning to use it even it on the trips to the pool in which DS wants to ride his own bike. I am just excited about the storage options.
