Saving Mr. Banks

No one left the theater until the credits were over. I've never seen that before. There were no applause though. Maybe it's a regional thing.

We usually stay until the END of the credits, but I saw this with my sister and her kids this week. We stayed for the tape recorder part, but, without any spoilers, it there something else after that?

DH and I finally watched this movie this weekend on OnDemand. We both really liked it. I didn't know what to expect from it because I purposely stayed away from reviews, including this thread.

One comment that my DH made I thought was interesting; we were discussing that she was never married but always wanted to be called "Mrs. Travers". DH said she probably chose that because it's pronounced "misses Travers", as in, she misses her father who's first name was Travers.

I thought that was interesting, and wonder if that's why she chose to be called that?? :confused3

At any rate, I thought it was a very good movie, and I enjoyed seeing Tom Hanks as Walt Disney. :sunny:

I saw this movie over the weekend and it was wonderful.
I love the back stories on Walt's shows, rides, etc. The movie was sad, happy, funny, but most of all I know about how Mary Poppins came to Disney.
I would highly recommend this movie to anybody that loves reading about the history of Disney and how things came to be.

I just watched it tonight. Mary Poppins holds a very special place for me. I knew some of the back story and how hard it was to get the movie made, I haven't watched a movie that made me cry like that in a long time. My daughter doesn't want to watch it now because she doesn't want to cry like I did.

Think I might have to go back and re-read the books.

I never cared about seeing it. But I watched it on demand with my mom, who is in her later stages of dementia, and although she says very little these days she proclaimed, "GOOD story" very loudly on her own and I could see she was transfixed the entire time. Sometimes I had to explain a few parts in the beginning but she was right into it. So that movie will forever be in my memory. :goodvibes

so sweet. My mother had dementia in her last years so I can very much relate to this story. :goodvibes

I also watched SMB this weekend. I loved it. I was a little worried about Tom Hanks as Walt, but he did a good job as did the rest of the cast.

I started crying when Travers said Mary wasn't there for the kids and didn't stop. I could barely make it through the movie!

I was crying too, can you explain this.
