Can anyone give me any ideas of how you saved for your wedding or what you did to save money on the wedding.

I am going to use the ING account, and have the money just taken out of there every pay check. Right now, if you get a referell (sp?) you get $25 extra, and the person referring you gets $10.

this might sounds stupid but what the heck is an ING acount?

I too am using an ING account...go to www.ingdirect.com. I think it is awesome and my interest rate just keeps getting higher. I think it is at 2.80? now... My DH2B and I have always put aside our "extra" money for our disney trips and we'll do the same for this one...I actually just work extra jobs to earn the extra money...I started a Pampered Chef business to earn extra money for traveling and I've stepped up my business to make extra money for the wedding. I've also been scoping my house for valuables that are "clutter" and that I can sell on ebay to put aside some more extra money...hope any of that helps?

DF & I are in the same situation, paying for it all!! However I think that you and your DF will quickly realize how much more you will cherish your wedding day and honeymoon together.

What we are doing is this:
-cut out unnecessary spending (eating out, dvd's, cd's etc.)
-save ALL your change and roll it (you'd be surprised how fast it adds up)
-pay yourself each paycheck (even if it is only $20 a week) and then add any extra that you have at the end of the month.
-we are also going through our CD & DVD collection and sell what you don't watch or listen to anymore. here is a post i had on this a few days ago
-any unexpected income goes directly to savings

These are a few things we are doing and they are working out wonderfully. We basically just agreed to sacrifice a little this year to make the things we want for our wedding and honeymoon work. We hope this helps & good luck to you both!!

i gave all my money i was trying to save to my mom. and by doing that i was able to pay off the wedding in 2 months...and i am still giving her $ for us to spend on the honeymoon.

Take a packed lunch to work instead of buying from the canteen...

We're also going to put our honeymoon on our wedding list as we already live together and don't need any housey stuff

I think this is a great idea, actually I am going to sign up for an account later. I have been looking for a way to save money and have it someplace where I cant easily get to it. We just moved into a new apartment and I keep buying things I dont really need so this will be a great help. Thanks for the idea... :cool1:

we have our wedding money saved in a moneymarket account with 2.8% interest. to save we set aside money each month & like others all our extra income (tax refunds, gift$, bonuses) went to our moneymarket. we also have a huge change bank, we've accumulated almost $400 thus far (fi counted out of curiousity) that we're going to use for fun money, that change does add up.

another idea is, a friend of mine set up a honeymoon registry for france through aaa vacations, which she used for her dwedding & honeymoon, guests then gifted $ to the fund. they already had so many home items, she said it worked out great for them. we still need some home stuff so we opted for the traditional registry.

best of luck, the more you save now, the less stress later. happy planning.
