I have used Dollar for my rentals on all of my trips in the past, and usually got a good deal using codes and coupons. I have been trying for weeks to get a decent rate for Nov. 26th- Dec. 3rd and couldn't find anything under $220.00 for a mid-size or better. Some companies were over $300.00 for the week.
I checked Thrifty today and was able to reserve a Mid-Size 4 door for $122.32 including all taxes and fees! I used the SAMS code and save 10%, plus I joined the Blue Chip program to avoid lines at pickup time. Full size and larger cars are 2x the price; I'm assuming that they are running some kind of special for compact to mid-size cars.
I read in another thread that you can get a coupon for a free upgrade in the Sams Club Travel Guides that are available at the store. If that's true, I hit the jackpot!
I know Thrifty is offsite but most of the reviews are positive. For that kind of savings, I'll gladly take a shuttle.
