I thought $59 each way on Southwest was a great fare but, today I checked and I got it for $49. I have a 40.00 credit for next year! WOOHOO!
I  saving money!

Don't you just love it when things work out like that!? :goodvibes

I just found out about the deal on Southwest. We also got the tickets for $49! Our total for the two of us, (round trip) is $233! Normally I couldn't even buy one round trip ticket to Orlando for less then that!

Ozfan, how did you get the airline credit? I see the flights I have booked also have dropped from $79 to $49. That makes me mad that you get penalized for booking early. I just discovered this site today, and glad I did. There is so much useful info.

You go to Travel Center on the website and choose Change Air Reservation. Then you just choose your same flights over again (if there is availability) and it will automatically compute the new rate. If your tickets were non-refundable you will be given a credit to use within a year of the original date you made the reservation.

My airfare changed from $69 to $39 each way. I now have a $180 credit.

If you were able to book on the same flights for a lower price, SWA will refund the difference back to your credit card instead of having to take a SWA credit.

Not if your original flights were non-refundable internet specials. If they were fully refundable then they will credit your credit card. If they were non-refundable tickets you get a credit.

I've always had non-refundable internet specials and received a credit back to my credit card. Sometimes they will make you wait until after your flight to issue the refund and sometimes they will do it immediately. This is one of the reasons I prefer to fly SWA.

Are these reservations for this year or 06? Where did you get these rates, from Southwest site or some where else? Thanks

Interesting. I talked to a CS agent first and then I went online and got the credit for the lower prices. Both the agent and the website stated that if the original flights booked were for non-refundable tickets then I would only get a credit to be used within one year of my original purchase date. I would prefer a credit.

How did you get the credit? Did you update the tickets online or over the phone?

Go to www.southwest.com. They are only for certain travel dates. I believe it is all for dates in 2005 at this time. Keep checking if you are interested in 2006 dates. Southwest constantly runs specials. Sign up for DING!

I originally bought my tickets for our May trip. I paid $79 each way for 6 tickets, when the price dropped to $59(which was only for our return trip) I got a $120 credit. I used that credit to purchase the tickets I bought for our September trip. I paid $59 each way and thought that was good. When I checked online the flight went down to $49. Now I have a credit (again) of $40. These are non- refundable, it has been my experience that you only get a credit for future use within 1 year of purchase, which is ok by me, I'm that much ahead for next year! WOOHOO! :cheer2:

Well I just got off the phone with SWA and they told me I will get a credit for now and that can be used in the meantime, or after I take the flight, I can call and get it credited to my credit card. I guess I will see what happens. Either way I will be happy, but of course would prefer the refund.

I was wondering how the credit works? If you buy 6 tix and the price goes down, and then rebook at the lower price; does the credit have to be in the same persons name that's on the ticket?

I guess my question is; can you pool the credit or does each person have say $20 of credit to use?
Thanks :)

You can give somebody else your credit. That is what CS told me anyway. I can't remember how they said to do it. You might want to call to get details.

Apparently this is not something they want everyone to know. The first time I did this they told me I would have to travel first and them submit my request for a credit. It was a fair amount of money since I had purchased six tickets. I explained that the charge was on my American Express which had to be paid monthly. The agent said no problem and issued a credit immediately back to my credit card. Although I had booked on-line, I had the agent cancel and rebook my flights over the phone. I was afraid to do so many on-line in case I did someting wrong and could not rebook. I guess it's like Disney, depends on who you talk to. If they do not give you a credit back to your credit card, just call Customer Service and make your request. SWA is very accommodating.

Do you know what type of fare you originally booked online? These are the types I see right now.

Refundable Anytime
Restricted Fares
Advance Purchase
Fun Fares
Internet One-Way

When I look at the Internet Special Fare it says "Fare is nonrefundable. Nonrefundable tickets may be used as credit toward the purchase of other tickets. " Others say it may be non-refundable. I wonder if you purchased another type of fare like the Fun Fares. I would love to get a credit if I could, even if I have to wait until after I travel.

When you purchase you airfare you will get a number that is connected to all of your purchased flights, whether it's 1 or 6 tickets. When you book at a different rate, all of the tickets purchased will recieve the difference. I was told since my tickes are a "non-refundable" fare that I can the crdit for future flights. I will definitely try to get a refund when I get back. Hey $40 bucks is $40 bucks! :flower:

Mine were the "Internet One-Way." We ended up paying $39 each way from Norfolk to Orlando. I think we started around $79 each way.

Thanks! I'll give it a try after the trip.
