Id like to make my own save the dates as ive been told that the ones disney provide are more of an information packet - ie with room rates and park tickets. Well as we are all coming from the UK it usually works out cheaper to book a package deal anyway.

Im just not really sure where to start with making one. I want something Disney themed. I want more like an invitation so that they can let me know whether or not they "intend" to come. I know a year is a bit to early to give a definate answer!

Any ideas? :bride:

I think this a great idea. Here is what we are doing...in march 2006 (our wedding is June 2007 I am sending out my own newsletter packet. I will have general info on wdw, info on the 3 hotels in my block, and info on my wedding weekend. I will also include a questionaire that states this is not a definite confirmation we just want to get a good idea of whoose coming, and how they are getting there etc. We will be sending out official packets from Disney around July but this will help us plan better and get better discounts to accomadate everyone blah blah blah. It will have questions like do you think you will make it? Where and how long do you think you would liime to stay? how would you get there etc...

Then Disney will send the save the date packages w/ info etc! I think a general card will work as well. We are inviting 70 people so we have to try to orchestrate this thing so a pamphlet works best for us!

30 can still be a bit to manage (I have trouble trying to manage my fiance and I lol) good luck!

Here are mine, a girl on the board made them for me.

OOOh! Those are so cute! I was wondering if it would be appropriate to ask people to save several dates...we would like to do an illuminations party as a welcome for our out of town guests and I was thinking of putting 3 days on our save the date as a "wedding weekend" sort of thing. I don't want people to feel obligated to make a trip about it, but we are planning extra events that I am wanting to know if our guests will be around for. Any suggestions would be appreciated, as well as some more ideas for where to get Disney themed STDs - (Does anyone else see the humor in that? ;) )

A girl on this board named JennyCee made them for me. If you PM me I can send you her information. She also is working on my invitations....still in the designing stage. I should have my STD's waiting for me at home tonight.

They are on #80 CardStock. They were not expensive compared to what is out there.

yeah...shame im only having the one wedding! there all beautiful! especially the one that looks like the cover of the FTW cd!

LOL Pixie08, my FH and I had the same idea when we got engaged May 23, 2004! Of course, we didn't think then that we could have a Disney wedding, so it would have been a newsletter just giving guests some details about our wedding....but now since it's Disney it's a whole new ballgame!

I hope I don't seem like I'm copying you, I promise I'm not! :wave2:

i did my own stds too, it had a magnet with our wedding date, then info printed inside on our wedding, location & the dates of our events. ive also sent newsletters to our guests, the first was a breakdown of our wedding event & activities like our welcome dinner, the rooms were providing, etc. the second newsletter was a Q&A newsletter with airline info & pricing, info on how to get to wdw from the airport, tips for kids, etc.

I just thought I would post a link to the "Save the Date" letter that Disney sent to the guests of my FTW vow renewal last year (Note: I don't know what they're sending out nowadays):
Save the Date Envelope
Save the Date Letter
Resort Information
Theme Park Ticket Information

I did not receive a copy of the "Save the Date" information myself. The images that I shared were done by one of my guests (she scanned in what she had received and then e-mailed it to me). My guest told me that the paper that Disney used was white and the pixie dust border was done in a silvery color. She said everything looked lovely.

By the way, I did my own "Save the Date" via a personal greeting card that I created with Shutterfly's help. I wrote about it in my FTW Planning Session trip report but will share links to the card here:

As this thread has pointed out, there are many ways of creating a "Save the Date" letter. The more choices you are given, the easier it will be to select the right one for you.
