Save the dates?

I know that Disney sends out save the dates, but I want to send them out now and give everyone PLENTY of time to plan, since there have already been complaints. If I choose to do my own, does Disney give me something else in their place and also the packages that come with all the information, I was thinking I would send those out with the invitations around the 8 month mark. Thanks!

Disney does not give u something else in place. Their save the dates are just a little booklet with a piece of paper folded in the back that is literally a word document and says: "Announcing the wedding of __________ & ________. ___________ & ___________ are having their wedding at Disney's wedding pavillion & a reception at the Atlantic Dance Hall on December 6th 2008....hope to see you there" or something like that

i think you would be fine if you sent your own save the dates AND had disney send theirs. i feel like their packet was more about making reservations than anything else...

If you are sending your own out, I would still have Disney send their version since it has important information for your guests on how to make their reservation and order tickets. They won't send it out until after the contract is done.

You could do it in the cute format of a newsletter - give the tentative date, talk a little about some of the activities you are planning and let them know Disney will be sending Save the Dates that will give reservation information on hotel blocks. When we did something like that we also included names of some good travel books, and in todays online world I would also include websites of information on what else they can plan.

Do you still have a template for this?
I'm desperately trying to find a template, the idea of starting from scratch upsets me!

I was just wondering if anyone already had a Disneyfied one - lazy I know! With us living in the UK I was also hoping to provide some additional info about what to expect from a Disney holiday, although to be honest, it's a minimum amount of people that haven't been before, although there will be a few who haven't been in about 12 years, so a lot of new stuff they need to know too!

What do you put in a wedding newsletter anyways?

I used a basic one from Word (it was 1996!) but now would use Publisher as it is easier, and then added Disney clip art to it. You can select a color theme that either goes with yoiur favorite clip art or matches wedding colors.

I included basic information - the date we were looking at, some of the high points of that time of year (December) and how/where to get more information. It didn't match our group but you could include informtion about planned outings - golf, Pleasure Island, special park days you plan to go to. You can let them know which hotels (if you've already picked) and that Disney will be sending the Save the Date (and give a time frame) that will have their reservation information. You could even include a survey to get information on would someone be interested in coming, what things have they seen/heard about that they would like to do.

You can then follow that up with another issue for their arrival that has the schedule of where and when you'll be places, so if they want to join you they can. You can also note on that "hosted" events so there is less confusion about what you are including in the wedding.
