Save $$$ - Rent from Thrifty?

Has anyone rented a car in Orlando from Thrifty? If so, what was your experience? How far from the airport is the rental, is there a shuttle, and what was the "hassle factor?"

Travelocity and Thrifty's own website are showing great rates for one week rentals in early December:

Economy class - $79.88
Intermediate - $89.88
Standard - $94.88

I also found a link at www.rentalcars.com for a possible upgrade (based on availability).

We rented an economy car from Thrifty in June. Everything about our experience was quite pleasant. You can catch a shuttle just outside exit 26 at the Orlando Airport, and the drive to Thrifty only took about 10 min. We waited in line only about 5 min. and the pick up was very friendly and quick. Our drop-off was actually quicker and easier than the pick-up! I wouldn't hesitate to rent again from them. As a matter of fact, I was planning on Thrify for our Dec. trip, so I'll check out Travelocity today. Thanks!

There are several negative comments about Thrifty over on the Transportation board.

I've never used the Orlando Thrifty, but have used Thrifty on other trips and never had a problem.

I went ahead and booked with Thrifty--went straight to the Thrifty website! I have an early December rental for 7 days on a Standard Car for $94.88 + Taxes! I shopped EVERY rental company and no one could come close to that price! Also, went to www.rentalcars.com and used their link for a possible upgrade (based on availability).

I've rented a car for my December trip from Thrifty. I noticed that they had rates as low as $69/week for the last week of September/first week of October.

I just wanted to thank everyone here on the budget board for saving me some money on my Thrifty rental car this December. By booking through www.rentalcars.com, I was able to save an additional $20 on the exact same car that I already thought was quite a bargain. Thanks.
