For my first DVC stay since we bought in September, we are staying at AKV 1 bdrm savannah view, what area or building views are better for the savannah. We will not have a car, so don't need to be close to parking lot, but want to be close to buses and restaurants etc?? Any help would be appreciated.:goodvibes

I think that is luck of the draw.

animals move - so just because one area was great last week - doesn't mean it will be next week.

that say - if your room doesn't have the animals you want to see - hey - go look at all the public viewing - there are a bunch of places to see them on each and every floor.

from the pictures - Kudu trail - but sunset area. - that is also where the construction work is going - but the animals seem to like watch too.

I love Arusha savanna but also Sunset can be good as it has the red river pigs. They are cute little suckers!

There are LONG hallways so being near restaurants and bus stops might be just a dream.

Some of the best animal watching we had was in a room at the VERY end of the building on the 5th floor. Our room looked out over a fence that separated sunset and Arusha savannas. There was one giraffe on the sunset side that was there early every morning pacing back and forth, waiting for his buddies to show up from Arusha.

I would just put in a request for Arusha savanna view (the savanna within the U of the U-shaped building) and don't be concerned about where you end by trying to limit it to rooms close to lobby (which would be those closest to getting to restaurants and busses; note that you do not want to request close to the elevators in the hope of getting close to the lobby because two of the elevators are those about halfway down the hallways of the arms of the U). The restaurants are on floors below the lobby (the bottom of that U) and the busses can only be reached by exiting from the lobby or the main store which is just off the lobby. In fact that is the only place from which you can exit the hotel to go somewhere other than the hotel. The only other places for the hotel where you can go outside at ground level are the designated animal viewing areas and the pool area; otherwise, everything outside is the savannas.
