Savannah View - Animal Kingdom Lodge

Wondering for those of you who have stayed at the AKL,,, what you thought of your view. I have read alot from people who have had the Deluxe Savannah view rooms and conceirge..... what about just a savannah view room?

We have had savannah view twice, And both times the view was great, The first was very far out down the Kudo trail I believe a hike! The second was a fabulous location I believe Zebra trail it was either 3052, or 3502 sorry I am drawing a blank on the exact number, Anyway it had a great view and was convienant to everything. Of course the 1 bedroom suite had a great view But, I digress I have loved everyone of the 5 locations I have had. It is my most loved property hands down.

We too had a standard savannah view, 2nd floor, Zebra Trail, Arusha Savannah....it was wonderful. The view was incredible. Like we were eye to eye w/ the animals...It is our favorite resort. I get the impression that many of the "standard" savannah rooms have better views b/c they are on the lower floors...I think the deluxe and concierge are on the higher floors...at least that is what I have read in the past. I'll let you know in about 35 days!

Thanks for your responses. i feel better with our choice now. I am hoping for a view with zebras for my disabled DD who will be seven on the trip.

Hi. We stayed at AKL in Dec 2001. We were in room 4471 on the Zebra trail. We had a great view of the animals. I don't remember seeing any Zebras, but we saw a ton of giraffes and Kudu. I know you can see the Zebras from the Arusha Rock Overlook. You will love the AKL. We celebrated our DS's 1st birthday there. We had booked standard view, but were upgraded at check in. It was wonderful. Be sure to eat at Boma if you have an opportunity. Hope you have a wonderful trip!!

Call back to Central Reservations (if this is the way you booked your reservation) and tell them you have a request you'd like to add to your reservation. It will be added to your information. Request a view of the Arusha Savanna b/c this is where the zebras are from everything I've read. Also tell them you'll be celebrating your daughter's birthday during your visit. I know this might seem awkward but in the case of a child's birthday I would definitely do it! You never know what magical moments might come her way! Good luck and what a wonderful choice for a birthday celebration! I have a newly-7-year-old DD as well!

There are no zebras on the Sunset Savannah. If you want zebras, you want to request a room facing the Arusha Savannah. The third savannah available is the Uzima Savannah. I believe there are zebras on Uzima, but I could be wrong. There are a lot more rooms facing Arusha than there are facing Uzima.

A CM at the lodge said once that the zebras and the Thompson's gazelles do not get along, so the tommies are put in the Sunset savannah and no zebras are kept there.

There is no difference between your view when you stay in a "deluxe sized" room, a concierge room or a regular sized savanna view room. All three rooms look out onto the same savannas.

The deluxe rooms and concierge rooms are on floors 5 and 6 while the regular sized savanna view rooms are on 2 through 4.

In my opinion we perfer the Arusha Rock Savanna as that is the only one with Zebra and Wildabeast(sp?).

My understanding is that some think the view is better in the standard rooms b/c of the veiwing level. I have read on several threads that most prefer the lower views..meaning a standard savannah view on the 2nd and 3rd flrs to the higher...or deluxe/ concierge view on the 5th and 6th floors. Many thought they were "too high" up. We are staying concierge in October and this is one thing that concerns me.....

We were on the 5th floor in a "concierge" room overlooking the Arusha savanna for our Feb 2003 and we thought the view was great. We did not feel as if we were far away at all.
