We're looking for a clean, safe place to rest our heads on our drive from Ohio to WDW, and Savannah seems to be about where we want to stop. Can anyone recommend a place?

TIA for any help!:goodvibes

Savannah is a beautiful city but if you are traveling south on 75, I would recommend Valdosta. It's in southern GA & while definitely not as neat as Savannah, you will have a short drive (approx. 3.5 hours) the next day to WDW.

Will you really be that far east driving from Ohio?

It depends on which way you go, which would probably be determined by where in Ohio you are. We live in SE Ohio and take I-77 from Charleston, WV, to I-26 around Columbia, SC, over to I-95 to I-4, and yes, we go through Savannah. If you take I-75, which is all the way across the state for us, you would not go that far east.

I highly agree that Valdosta is a great place to stop for the night. It's also where my family and I stay the day before we arrive to WDW.

Thanks for the quick replies! We live in NE Ohio, so 95 is a faster route for us. We won't have time to explore the town--just need a place to lay our heads for the night.:goodvibes

The exit for the Airport (104 off of 95) has a bunch of options. Right off 95, safe area. I've stayed at the Fairfield Inn there and would do so again.

Driving from NE Ohio, we either stay at the Pooler exit or if you want to get just a little further, we have stayed at the Brunswick exit. There is a Sleep Inn that we stayed in that was a clean, cheap place to sleep with a free breakfast. We paid $55/night.

I live close by and would also recommend staying at this exit. There are several very good choices (I like Fairfield) for an overnight stay.

Brunswick is about another hour south.

Add another 'like' for staying at one of the places by the airport.

And there's a Super Wal-Mart, Sam's club, and several good fast-food options at this exit (104), all of which are super-convenient to 95.
