What do you think?
Love it or hate it?
Let me know...the good, the bad, the ugly.....

I'm looking at getting an 06.

thanks!

DH loved his - he just drove it into the ground (over 200,00 miles on it.) I liked that it was roomy on the inside w/out being a tank.

Good luck on the hunt.

We've had ours just about 1 year.
I agree with the other poster that it's a nice size. It's big enough, but not so big it feels like driving a tank.

My in-laws were loyal Saturn fans. Their Vue was their 5th Saturn. Their engine blew at 52,000 miles-and they are fanatical about regular oil changes, etc. While it was technically out of warranty, there was obviously something wrong with the engine because they don't just go out with that low mileage. Saturn did nothing to help them. They bought a Toyota.

I LOVED my VUE.... I had an '04 chili-pepper red one :goodvibes

I never had any problems with it~I was diligent about getting it in every 3,000 miles for oil changes/maintenance and it ran like a dream :)

We'd had 2 other Saturns prior to my VUE.... the SL2's.... one was a '94? I think and is what I learned to drive a stick shift on....and then a '99.

I did trade my VUE in this past July and upgraded to the Outlook since I kept running into situations where I needed more seating w/ all the girls' activities and needing to carpool....

I still miss my VUE, but also love my Outlook :)

You'll find with every car maker, that there will be people who love them, people who hate them, people who had no problems, and people who did have problems.

No manufacturing process is perfect. Just keep that in mind while you are searching.

That being said...

MIL has drove nothing but Saturns in the 16 years I've known her. Her last 2 cars were VUEs. She had an 04 and last year traded it in for an 07. Nothing wrong with it...she's one of those people who trades in cars after warranties are up because she doesn't want to have to deal with any potential problems.

Same with all her other Saturns...she had an SL2 - was hit by a semi and walked away from it. Had another SL2 and an LS2 before getting the VUEs.

We are a Saturn family as well. I was t-boned in our SL1 and we were all okay. The car was totaled, but nothing came into the cabin of that car. DH is still driving the SL2 we replaced it with. It has over 100,000 miles on it.

I'm driving a Relay, but I desperately want an Outlook! But I can't justify trading it in. It works just fine. I can't see giving up a car that's paid off and works great and has all the bells and whistles...just because the Outlook is calling my name!

Just one word of caution. Saturn is the brand that GM is thinking about cutting to get of the mess they're in.

GM would be stupid to get rid of the Saturn line, I saw the story in USA Today this morning. Saturn sales are down 20%, while the rest of GM is down over 40%.

I have an 02 SL car with 195K miles on it. The only problem I had with it was a water pump last year. I was T-boned by 2 drunk kids 4 years ago and had most of the side panels replaced. I was not injured. It is the best car I have ever owned.

My wife had an 03 Vue, it was one of the older ones with the VTI transmission. The tranny went out at 80K and Saturn gave us blue book even with the transmission problem in trade if we went with another Saturn.

She now has an 08 Vue, the nicest SUV we have owned. It is quiet, reliable, and has the space we need. The gas mileage was questionable at first, but got much better as time went on.

We have had nothing but Saturn for 6 years now and have been very happy with the choices.

We have an 02 and I love it! I have told my DH that when it's paid off, I don't want another car.(unless it's a Vue!) Mine is a stick shift and gets on average 28 MPG.

I just bought the 09 and love it:goodvibes I agree it is very roomy but doesn't feel like a tank. My last car was a Buick Rendezvous, which I loved too, but wanted to down size. I swear it has almost the same backseat space as my Rendezvous.

We did look at the Outlook, but went with the Vue. It seems to get pretty good gas mileage. For my 09, I only have to have the oil changed at 5,000 miles (confirmed with the dealership).

My husband has a Saturn ION - the upgraded one - and he loves his car.

I love Saturn dealerships and service department. I think they are by far the best. I can't believe that GM wants to dump Saturn. In my town, that is all I see are people driving are Saturn cars - either the Vue or the Outlook. I had a hard time finding my car when we bought it in October of this year.

I have a 2007 Saturn Vue and I love it. My lease will be up in March and I'm hoping to get a 2009 Vue or perhaps a Saturn Aura (it will just depend on the payments). We are a Saturn family, as my son drives a 2003 Saturn Ion.

I love the size of the Vue. Not too big, but big enough. I think it drives well and is very comfortable. I highly recommend.

My best friend drives a Vue and I LOVE that car.

It is definitely an option for my next car as well.

Great responses!! We need to forward this to Saturn/GM!!

I work at a car dealership and currently drive a 2001 Nissan Maxima...I like my Max, but it's starting to nickle & dime me to death...and every repair is in excess of $300-$500!!
We have an 06 Saturn Vue, 66k miles, black....pretty sharp little buggy! (the woman that traded it lives 50 miles one way from work, so they are highway miles) My service department checked it out and said it's in good shape....I'll let you know tonight what I end up doing.....if all works out....maybe I'll even post a picture or 2!! :)

I can't speak for the Vue, but I'm still driving my '98 SL2. It's got 130k+ miles on it and still runs well. We've had some maintenance issues but we're really hard on it, so it's to be expected. Still, it's still cheaper to fix every now and then than to buy a new or even a used car. I'll be looking at Saturn again when it's finally time for a new car, though I have to say, I love the Nissan sedans design, so Saturn will have a bit of competition!

I'm glad some of you also posted about the Outlook. That is the one I've had my heart set on for awile now. I'm hoping if I wait just a little longer I might be able to get a used one or a lease return. The vue would be great but I need 6 seats.

What do you guys that have the Outlook like best about it? The only large vehicle I have to compare is the Expedition which I dearly loved.

Saturn family here--we've owned nothing but and had no problems. DH has been in two accidents, one serious where the car was totalled, but he was safe.

I have a new 2008 Sunburst Orange Vue and I LOOOOOVE it. It's wonderful.

I am worried about GM selling the Saturn brand and what that will mean to repairs in the future. But you will probably get an amazing deal on one.

And as far as I know, it's a done deal GM is selling the saturn brand--whether they get any takers is another story.

SAturn family here, too, and I am the child of another Saturn family. Love my '03 VUE. Just the right size and only maintenance expenses (including the pesky "O2" sensor that seems to go out at scheduled intervals in nearly every car nowadays (that has one, anyway).

Saturn is one of GM's solid lines. NOT likely to be cut although I can imagine that the auto industry will make some cuts to many areas.

DW has a VUE from 2005 and we love it. We've owned several Saturns over the years and have had very good luck with them. I'd bet we'll purchase another one at some point if they survive the recession.

I don't know where to begin about what I love best about my Outlook.....

It's an '08 and we actually bought it USED in July.... we were able to pull up the carfax reports on it to check it out... it's carbon black and in mint condition. It had approx. 11K miles on it when we bought it-it was a rental. By buying used, we saved quite a bit off the sticker price, not to mention the $12K trade-in I got for my '04 VUE (I still owed $8K on it)..... DH was also able to squeak a 60 month warranty out of our Saturn dealership since we've purchased 7 vehicles from them in the past 14 yrs (not all Saturns).

2 weeks after I got my vehicle, I was rear-ended HARD. The woman who hit me was not paying attention as I'd been stopped for a minimum of 2 min. with my turn signal on waiting to take a left on a very busy road.... she hit me going about 35 MPH. I had my 2 young girls in the car with me :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Her Hyundai Elantra was TOTALLED. Absolutely DEMOLISHED. Thankfully there were very minor injuries (I got whiplash and the woman who hit me sustained a bit more, but didn't have to go to the hospital and THANK GOD my girls were fine... in their booster seats in the middle row). My Outlook was driveable...but it wasn't advised as the muffler got smushed and the bumper/tailgate had some damage.... absolutely minimal compared to what the woman's car had gotten. It took 3 weeks to get it repaired since the body shop had to order all factory-new parts since it was an '08.

I'd been on the fence about going bigger w/ the way gas prices were this summer.... but after that accident, I was convinced I'd made the right decision. As much as I loved my VUE, I don't think the outcome would have been the same :guilty:  The gas mileage difference is only 2 mpg less than that of the VUE anyway...

The only downside I've encountered with it is that it's wider than the VUE.... I park FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR away from people in parking lots but inevitably, people feel the need to park practically on top of me and WHACK my doors with their doors as they fling them open with no regard :scared: :scared: I have a couple of those little marks on either side now :( :( I'm sure they can be buffed out by a pro... but I haven't gotten around to it. The doors are resilient like all Saturns, so they don't dent....

I love the 3rd row...I also love that it can be folded down so you can carry more cargo if needed :thumbsup2 I LOVE my ipod hook-up built into the stero-system   I love that it has onstar... if I choose to activate it.... .

I just love my Outlook! :)

I can't believe that GM wants to dump Saturn.

It's not that they want to dump it, but that it is the most valuable thing they own, and they desperately need cash right away. It's the only thing that they have that another automaker is at all likely to be willing to pay top-dollar for.
