Saturday Night Live merchandise always been there or a sign of something to come?

I've seen the posts and pictures showing different Saturday Night Live merchandise for sale. My question is has it always been there, or could this be preparing for a new show or exhibit? I know they have kiosks in the both the park and Citywalk. Of course it's NBC UNIVERSAL who own the whole thing, so maybe just squeezing that money tree a little bit more?

Are there kiosks/sections for other NBC UNIVERSAL shows too?

I don't remember if they have been selling SNL stuff for a while but I know you can purchase show merchandise from the Universal store in the Studios and the location at CityWalk. I don't know which shows are available but this isn't anything new. I think at one time you could get Will & Grace stuff and that show has been gone for more than a few years.
