Ok been looking around the web to see what kind of Sat Nav to buy
but I'm :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

want one that we can use in Florida aswell as here in Ireland and the UK
anyone any ideas

and would it be better to buy in the US or here

I had exctly the same question a couple of months ago. I researched the price of buying in usa and here and to be honest they worked out thesame pricewith the exchange rate the way it is at the mo.:)

i bought the tom tom go that was on offer in halfords for £80 this just had uk and eire maps on it then i bought the sd card from amazon for the usa map (£40) im assured by peple on here that its justa case of swapping the cards over so i think i did really well £120 got me a tom tom that has already proved invaluable in uk but also has the up to date maps of usa.

other people might have different ideas but im happy :cloud9:

I can recommend Tom Toms, we have 3 in our house and one has the extra sd card with USA maps on it. It has proved invaluable both in this country and in the USA.

On some of the newer versions they can check your speed limit against the posted limit and warn you are breaking the limit (this was according to someone on here) which I thought was a pretty good idea whilst travelling on unfamiliar roads.

The newer ones no longer need separate holders for fixing on the windscreen which will mean they take up less room.

I subscribe to the Stuff magazine and time after time Tom Toms are listed as the best in their type which is why we bought them. I can recommend them but you could also look for some reviews on the net or buy a magazine for reviews and recommendations on latest products.

Can recommend TomTom also. I've the Western Europe map which includes UK and Ireland. Bought the Eastern USA map for our Orlando trip and copied it onto the SD card :)

Got a Navigo Sy885 from E-Buyer, dont waste money on TomTom take a look around the net for info.

We have a Garmin Nuvi that we bought in the Middle East and this came pre-loaded with Middle East, UK + Ireland and US.
Easy to use, accurate and it plays MP3s as well - which was very welcome in Kuwait when our car just had tape cassette player in the car.:rolleyes1
