been looking now for a while to get a sat nav for our trip to WDW in Aug
last time we hired one with the car but it cost nearer a $100
so planning on buying one
wanting to use it here as well

QVC has this one as a Today's Special Value Price @£179.88

So is this a good price or a good sat nav love the idea of the 4 eay payments

how easy is it to download the US maps I see in another post that there is a 25% off them too

Cheapest I can see it on a quick Google search is £209, which doesn't include the case that QVC are bundling with it and, as you say, easy payments are always a bonus.

I use my TomTom (different model) in the US with no problem and they are among the best manufacturers.

The South East US map for the XL model are £29.95 on the TomTom web site at the moment. All you should need to do is download the maps, connect the unit via USB to your computer and copy the maps across. I don't think this model comes with an SD slot and I'm not sure how much of the internal memory is taken up with the UK/Ireland and European maps so you might have to take the Europe maps off to get the US maps on.

Thanks if I have to take the maps off are there then lost for good

some how I think it is only Ireland and the UK maps there are included

Sorry you're right it is only UK and ROI this time, they normally do the Europe editions. If you take maps off you don't lose them for good, you just copy them onto your PC so you can copy them back if you need to.

I got the ToomTom XL Europe today for £139.99 at Comet today and I'm going to download the USA map later. I'm rubbish with technology but I used the TomTom today and it is sooooo easy :thumbsup2

Didn't get it after all
thinking of getting a cheap one in the states when we are over there
don't really need one here

Good plan, saves all the hassle of adding US maps if you don't need to use it in the UK. :thumbsup2

I have a TomTom and as they are offering the USA South East region map for £24.95 so i couldnt say no, even though i know my way around anyway. Depending on the tomtom (I have the ONE XL) some have the memory card slot as does mine but mine had enough internal memory to add the florida map without removing Uk. I have now sat and added all Disney Parks/hotels and universal partners to my points of interest, with little symbols. Sad I know.
As for adding maps it is just a click and follow instructions when attched to your pc and connected to the tomtom home program. :thumbsup2
