Sat Nav again - quicky questions.

I got a Garmin street pilot and it runs on batteries or via a cable to the cigarette lighter.

Does the cigarette lighter cable work on rented cars in the USA?

Is there a cigarette lighter and where is it located (usual place I presume) - dont smoke so havent really looked in past.

Every car we have had with Dollar has had an outlet for Satnav. There were threads a while back saying some had been disconnected to stop people smoking in cars but not heard it for a while so I presume they don't do it now.

Our last rental car in the US (Easter) had a port for plugging in cigarette lighter style chargers.

While most cars don't have ash trays and cig lighters they have an outlet for the plug, often labeled at 12v I think. It's usually under the radio somewhere or maybe by the glove compartment.
