Sarilas' O-fficial Pre-Trip Report (a.k.a. Vacation, Take TWO!) - Jan. 30-Feb. 8, '09

There are a total of 44 flags in the “Hall of Flags” of the American Adventure in World Showcase.

Pizza is always a safe bet with our family- I'll have to check out the menu for the Sunset Market too!

LOL :lmao:

For Sunset Market you have to look for the indie stand names: Rosie's All-American, Canitina Eddies and "something" Turkey Leg Co. (they have more then turkey legs) and there is an ice cream stand and a french fry stand too in that area.

Okay, this is another 'stretching it' countdown, but what else do you expect from me?!

Mounted on the roof of the administration building at Avenger Field (Sweetwater, Texas) in 1943 was a 10-foot-high sign with a giant portrait of Fifinella, the gremlin drawn by Disney who served as mascot to the Women's Airforce Service Pilots.

Did you post a disney world story- about someone who had a not so good trip? One of the subscriptions I'm reading did.. and I just started to read it- left it on the computer and my DH Xed out of it and now I can't find it.. and I want to read more. If you did- can you tell me the website- or let me know what post its linked to in yours? Thanks! :)

This just in: I received my Baggallini and LOVE IT! It's the perfect size- not big enough to haul around all the carp I'd probably TRY to take with us, but perfectly sized for taking my wallet and necessities PLUS room for souvenirs and my camera and God knows what else. AND, my phone fits perfectly in the little pocket in the front strap! This is key- I was worried about my phone's LCD screen breaking after being flung in some random place in my bag. This strap is going to be perfect for holding the phone, and probably our key to the world and photo pass cards, too! Everything at my fingertips without having to take off the bag... Mama likes! :woohoo:

I should add that I didn't buy it from ebags or one of those other well known sites; instead I found a smaller operation called CherryLaneKeepsakes.com who offered the same prices the other guys did PLUS 10% off for Christmas AND free shipping! And it took less than 3 days to get here via UPS. Oh, and they just so happen to carry Disney keepsakes too. :thumbsup2

Oh lord, yeah that was me! And I posted a link to the woman's blog and she tracked back to me! It was hysterical... I'm not sure where that is in this mangled mess of a PTR though...

THIS JUST IN!

DH received his bonus check today, which SUCKED. It was $3000 LESS than it was supposed to be, thank you current fiscal climate. But no worries- the trip is paid off and we'll be good to go, just perhaps with less bells and whistles than we'd hoped to have. BUT there are always new trips, right? I mean I can't do EVERYTHING on my first trip to the World! (See me thinking positively?!)

So anyway, I hadn't as of yet purchased our plane tickets down. DH has been adamant on flying, even though driving is much less expensive, albeit much more time consuming. Southwest is the only airline to fly nonstop from here to Orlando, so that was a no brainer! I have been fare watching for EVER, and today got a Nashville to Orlando Ding! But wait for it... the ONE day excluded was our travel day! SERIOUSLY?! :sad2: So I just bit the bullet and bought the full fare ticket for when we wanted to fly- EARLY Friday morning, January 30, leaving Nashville at 6:25 am and arriving in Orlando at 9:10. You know what that means, right? We'll be in downtown Disney by lunchtime! This, my friends, takes me to my happy place.

Now, I still haven't purchased our return tickets. Reason being, we haven't as of yet decided HOW we'll be returning. I want to drive back for the convenience of having a minivan full of packing space. DH is wavering but not sold on the idea. There's apparently an Avis car rental in the Hilton at Downtown Disney, so it's just a boat ride away to pick up a car and bring it to POR. We don't have any plans that last day anyway and I think it might be fun to see all that exists between Orlando and Nashville! Again, DH is not convinced. :rotfl: Oh, and I don't know if Southwest has had different baggage allowances until now but my confirmation says:

"Beginning January 29, 2008, Southwest will allow two (2) checked pieces of baggage per ticketed Customer. Size and weight limitations apply. Maximum weight is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height) per checked piece of luggage."

TWO pieces of luggage times 5 paying passengers equals... enough baggage to bring down in room breakfast goodies and have enough space to return with souvenirs! :woohoo:

At least we made a decision on how we'll GET to Orlando! That's half the battle... :rolleyes1

Sorry about the check being not as good.

But YAY on purchasing your departing tickets.

I mean who says you have to come back to reality anyway? ;)

Oh, don't think I didn't contemplate NO return ticket!

How long do you think I could hide out in World Of Disney before they catch on?

Well, given the sheer size of the place, I think for quite some time!

Love your trivia for today, very cool. I am so happy that your baggallini came so quickly!

And :yay: for plane tickets!

I see its all comming together nicely for you.
Last year was my first real trip. WDW knocked my socks off.

The trivia is, if nothing more, keeping ME occupied for the next forty some days!

I cannot WAIT.

Yeah, thats irritating with flight. When we went for our honeymoon- I decided to wait to buy flight (I planned to book it in Jan) and was told if I waited until a month or 2 before- I would save more- yeah I definitely didn't. I ended up spending like $200 more. It made me soo mad.

Thank you! I thought it was you. I'm going to finish reading it today! Really-she did? Is she a member on Disboards? Was she mad? Frankly, I don't see how she can be mad- she posted it online for all the world to see..

It was frustrating, to say the LEAST! I'm still crossing my fingers for a Ding! fare for our return flight... :rolleyes1

She is a member! I don't think she was mad; in fact I said something along the lines of how she could have benefited from the Dis Boards, only to learn she's already a member... which left me with the question of how she could have made such fundamental mistakes in trip planning and execution, but I digress... :rotfl:

I started reading it last night too and can't wait to get home so I can finish it too.
