Hi

We are thinking of purchasing DVC when we manage to sort out Westgate. However, my dh would like to stay SSR but we have had ridiculous quotes from Disney. We would need a two bedroom villa. Any ideas would be great. At the moment we are at a stump :confused3 . Thanks. Oh we are looking for October 2007 leaving on the 10th and possibly staying between 14-17 nights.

Thanks again. :thumbsup2

Hello again

I hope you're making progress with Westgate.

I think 'try before you buy' is a good way to go ...... that and looking at the other DVC resorts while you are there. For arrival on 10th October, check out on 24th in a 2 bedroom at SSR you would need to rent from someone 510 points! You would need 10 weekday nights at 29 a night and 4 weekend nights at 55 a night.

I don't think you would have much difficulty renting these points - possibly here in the UK or certainly on the US boards and it will be cheaper than Disney for sure, but not a 'snip' because of those weekend nights.

Good luck with it all.

Hi Moira,

We have been advised from TUG that they can not do anything legally really. Apparently we do not have a social security number they can not take to us to court or anything. Apparently we should not sign new documentation for a new contract Westgate are renound for using the old 10 day cooling off period. More hassle than its worth. We will see. Our faults we should of said no, but they made out it was so cheap. We were wrong.

So we would need 510 points. Is it 29.00 per night or poiints? Sorry we are not used to working things out in points? Any idea how we ask about buying points? Do we just ask here?

Thanks

The average price for renting is $10 per point. If you're really keen to do this, then you can start a thread on the DVC Rent/Trade board - starting "Reservation Wanted" plus your chosen dates and resort.

It looks like the price will be $5100 for 14 nights, which with the good exchange rate, makes it a nice price for a stay in one of the wonderful two bedroom villas!! But if that seems too much, you could just rent a two bedroom for a few days, to try it out. :)

Hi

Its still a little expensive. Dh and I are thinking of buying from DVC directly so we can have SSR and buy maybe 500 points and rent out 250 every other year to help out with the finances. Hope this works. Well still waiting for Jim McCoy to call back. I wish we had set this up whilst we were out there it would of been easier. Instead we went for Westgate it seemed like a better deal.

We used Jim, he's a great guy. No hastles, no pressure and would call and chat all day to my mobile.

If he hasn't called back, give him a ring and he will call you straight back if he's there.

I know he seems to do quite a few cruises through, so he's maybe a way on one of these if he hasn't returned your call.

We keep winding him up by telling him that he has the best job in the world. Not only is he selling something everyone wants, he gets to sell them on a Disney Cruise Liner some of the time. :thumbsup2

regards

David

Hi

Apparently he was on the phone and she said she would get him to call me back. Dh is thinking buying a re-sale at bcv. I think it would work out cheaper if we bought ssr due to annual fees etc and also the 12 year period. Can they offer finance it woukd be good if we could use thier finance due to exchange rate.

Michelle,

We were thinking of buying into DVC and we stayed at the Boardwalk for 3 nights in August, just to see what it was like, we also had a look around the Beach Club Villas as well as Saratoga Springs.

We bought points off a seller on the DVC boards, to have to spend $5000 + on your stay seems excessive to me, I mean you could probably buy into DVC itself for perhaps double that if you shop around, so it may be a good idea to say stay at SSR for 5 nights not including any weekends, just to get a feel for it and look at the other resorts too?

Hi

Thanks Johnny. Bruce is still uncertain. We might buy some rent points for four nights to get a feel for it. Bruce wanted two weeks worth. I said by the time you pay that we should look at a re-sale. BWV and BCV is the location we love and they appeal more to us than SSR. We could be wrong. Its so hard.

I am by no means a DVC expert, we did consider buying into DVC but doubts about how many more times we will go and the fact that having been so many times now we have probably considered it too late have affected our decision.

We have stayed at BWV, and also had a look around BCV - the location cannot be beat, and having both resorts so close together it means you can share the facilities.

We had the full tour around SSR and felt there were advantages staying there, being able to park the car so close to the room for eg, something that we couldn't do at BWV.
The rooms also at SSR we felt were nicer than the other resorts, the resort had a much more refined feel to it and generally seemed much quieter and laid back, we also preffered the pool there - BCV on the other hand was lively and there seemed to be plenty going on.

The restaurants/lounges at BCV & BWV are good, and I loved the ESPN Sports Bar.

The location of BWV/BCV personally would probably just edge it especially as they are opposite each other, plus you have the Swan & Dolphin hotels closeby, as well as EPCOT & MGM - I can appreciate why it's difficult to decide.

I think SSR would be a good choice if you were looking for a peaceful & relaxing holiday.

Just to clarify, only guests staying at the Beach Club and BCV can use SAB (Stormalong Bay) - it's a 'hot ticket'. DVC members can 'pool hop' as one of the privileges, but SAB and the pool at AKL are the exceptions - so BCV guests could use the BWV pool (with permission) but not the other way round! Johnny possibly meant only the entertainment, eateries, boats etc.

Michelle, FWIW, I think your approach makes a lot of sense even with the new discounts being offered for SSR referrals. It's a big and costly decision for most people and one you need to be sure of. Keep us posted :)

Yes I did mean just the ESPN Sports bar, entertainment, ESPN Sports bar, restaurants, ESPN Sports bar - erm guess what my favourite bit of the Boardwalk is?
