Why some many Saratogo Springs resells available?
DVD does a great job in getting us to buy emotionally. Never ending incentives also help. For a lot of members the present economy has been a wake up call, and when you need to choose between buying gas to get to work and owning a vacation interest, gas wins every time.
Looking at the different resorts I have come up with the following:
OKW - 761 Rooms Max.
VB - 208 Rooms Max.
HHI - 123 Rooms Max.
BWV - 532 Rooms Max.
VWL - 181 Rooms Max.
BCV - 282 Rooms Max.
SSR - 1260 Rooms Max.
AKV - 708 Rooms Max when completed.
Also, a higher percentage of SSR owners are still paying off any loan to Disney for the purchase, and they may be having financial difficulty making payments in the sour economy.
So according to those #s
OKW - 18.8%
VB - 5.1%
HHI - 3%
BWV - 13.1%
VWL - 4.5%
BCV - 7%
SSR - 31%
AKV - 17.5% when comp.
31% of the rooms.....45% of the resales.....
HHHMMMMM.....(rubs beard again, but with one eyebrow up this time....)
Look no further for proof of that than the percentage of rooms on sale.
SSR is very lovely. If you take the time to relax, you'll love it. SSR has not only the best spa in WDW, but one of the best in the state. It is also the only DVC with an attached golfcourse clubhouse, plus the proximity to DTD.Should one avoid staying at and or buying this DVC? Are there any redeeming qualities?

On the other hand, if SSR is BY FAR the largest DVC, does that not mean that there are, BY FAR, a MUCH LARGER NUMBER owners who are pleased with the purchase and not selling than at any other DVC, even if there were a couple hundred contracts up for resale?
The figures presented as percentages of resales at SSR vs other resorts are completely meaningless, unless one knows the total number of contracts, the total number of resales offered everywhere (not just one place), etc. It seems disingenuous to create one "fact" at the exclusion of other numbers and then use it to draw such a conclusion as people continuously make on these boards.
But then again, this seems to be a sign of the times......
Okay, all this talk is scarring me. We just filled out the paperwork to purchase 200 points thru re-sale. Is SSR really a bad place to stay???It is hard for me to imagine that any resort at WDW is bad. Plus you do not have to stay at your home resort right? And there are other places to stay outside of WDW. For $77 a point I thought that was really good since we will have it until 2054!!
