I have seen a ton of resales for Saratoga.

Do people not like Saratoga?

My family does not really like it.

We like our home BCV or OKW

Cheers for ears

:sad2: Ugh...not another slam on SSR thread!
It would make sense that the most recent people having buyer's remorse would have just purchased at SSR, thus the amount of resales. I am a "people" and I love Saratoga. I also love Yacht Club, BWV and DCL. Do some "people" not like Saratoga? Yes. I'm not thrilled about OKW, but I don't stay there until January, so I will reserve judgement. I plan to try every DVC resort sometime!

To each his own. Every family should be lucky enough to have a Disney Resort to love!
If we were all the same, life would be quite boring! :thumbsup2

OKW is my home resort and I have only stayed there because I absolutely LOVE it there. This Easter we decided to try SSR and yesterday someone posted their pictures of SSR and it looks so beautiful! Now I can't wait to stay there and give that a try :cheer2:

We own DVC and our home resort is OKW. We love it there!! However, DH surprised me with a trip in October and we stayed at SSR. It was beautiful and I would stay there again. There were things I did not like, and there are some things at OKW I don't care for, but I truly believe it is what you want it to be. If you go with an idea that you aren't going to like it, chances are you won't. It's Disney-make it magical!!

I own OKW & SSR, i have stayed at all the resorts including HH & VB. I found i like some better then others, BCV is not one of my favorites. If your family dosn't like SSR it might help to list some of the things you find not to your taste. Sales happen for lots of reasons, you don't have to sell to use your SSR points at other resorts.

Don't forget that owners reselling SSR have to compete with Disney selling with discounts (with prices as low as $86 ppt.) and low closing costs. If those owners bought at a higher price, they have to take a loss on the sale (and given how recently these folks purchased, they may not want or be in a position to take a loss on the resale). You will also see that many of those contracts are stripped, which again makes them hard to compete with Disney. With that kind of competition, it has got to take longer to resell contracts.

Remember, as well, SSR is also the biggest DVC resort (when it is completed). OKW also has a lot of resales. This is more a numbers game in my book. The largest resorts will have the most resales strictly because they have more owners. On a percentage basis, I have not run any numbers, but I bet the resales are close to OKW on a percentage basis....just a thought.

Yes...SSR is terrible! Don't go there. You'll be doing all us SSR lovers a favor. :)

In all seriousness SSR is not about location, it's not about it's size. SSR to me is about its beauty, it's amenities, peace & quiet. All of the DVC resorts have there own plusses and minuses. It just depends on what appeals to you and your family.

Also keep in mind SSR is not complete. The new sections will include another interactive water area with pool, pool bar, etc. Personally, I love having SSR in the DVC resort family. It provides another option and different type of WDW vacation.

Whats not to like, your not at work, your not at home, your at WDW.

I agree.

I have stayed at OKW twice and SSR once. All three times without a car. I think this is the main reason that I did not enjoy my stays there. While at BCV, BWV and VWL, it seemed that getting to the lobby, pool, gift shops and laundry were easier without a car than at the other two. No traffic to cross. So, for those reasons, I would rather not stay at OKW or SSR without a car.

Whether you are slamming SSR or not.......... I won't go there.

My guess and it is only a guess is that many resales are likely to financing issues.

DVC is SOOOOOOOOO easy to finance through DVC that many stretch their budgets way too tight. Something unexpected happens and then they have to sell the timeshare. That first annual dues statement shows up and they decide it is going to be a little more costly than they planned.

As for SSR, that is where I own the remainder of my points. I have seen the resort maturing quite nicely and if that is the only place I could get ressies then I'd be more than happy.

Lets hold judgement of SSR until we see the finished product. Besides, are any of the DVC resorts perfect? :confused3

EDIT: In fairness to the OP, I just checked TSS resales for SSR and there is more than 40 right now. That does seem rather high.

 I agree that people should stay away from SSR. That way those of us that love it can have an easier time getting reservations!! :rotfl2:

That's possible.

I think another huge factor at present is the $86 price offered direct from DVC. As some else eluded to, SSR is the only resort where resale is directly competing with DVC for sales. (Yes you can buy other resorts from DVC, but the prices are usually sooooo much higher than resale. Plus DVC does everything in their power to discourage new owners from doing this.)

I just looked at Tom's site and there are quite a few "Sale Pending"s at SSR. But most of them appear to be either loaded contracts or those priced in the $80-81 range.

The ones that are not selling are priced at $83 and up. Frankly it just doesn't make sense to pay $83 plus full closing costs, and go through the occasionally frustrating resale process, when you can pay $86 through DVC and be booking your first trip the same day.

The thing to bear in mind is that this situation is true now....today. When the current promotion ends and prices go up to $91+, those $83 contracts will start getting more offers. I think this may be just a temporary resale logjam due to the more competitive prices offered by DVC.

Sales of any resort have many stories. I sold one of my SSR contracts recently to buy a contract at BWV. I don't dislike SSR. I still have points there. I just wanted to have some points at BWV after staying there. And couldn't afford to just merely add-on.

Maybe some of the sellers are selling b/c their dream resort is coming.

SSR is a beautiful resort. When they first started sales, there was a deal for current DVC owners to buy 120 points at SSR and get a free AP. I'd like to bet that a lot of those SSR contracts are stripped and don't have next year's points coming either. Used three years worth of points, transferred them into BCV contract and used them to make BCV reservations. Rented them out, put the contract up for sale.

I would agree with this. The current promotion is probably the main cause of the logjam of SSR resales NOT anything wrong with SSR.

Now that is an interesting notion.

According to DVC legal they have no knowledge of the point "morphing" you allude to.
