Hey all !! We have reservations at our home resort at SSR beginning of December for a week. Can anyone recommend the best section to book ? We have a car , so no need to be by bus stations . We don’t necessarily have to be close to the walking trail to Downtown Disney and we have a 6 year old who loves to swim. So I’m assuming near a nice pool ? If it’s warm enough in December to swim ? TIA!!!!! :-)

Are you booked in standard or preferred? That affects the choices below:

There are two premier pools (the Paddock pool and the Springs pool). There are also quiet pools in Congress Park and the Grandstand. It's usually warm enough in December to swim, and the pools are heated anyway so we've gone swimming all year round no matter what.

To be close to a themed pool, if you have standard, request the Paddock area and close to the Paddock pool. If preferred, request Springs and near the High Rock Spring pool. If you actually get either of those requests, you will also be not far from the bus stop.

Note that being near a bus stop may or may not be important come Dec, but currently there are no trams at the parking lots for the parks, and thus you have to walk from you where you park to the park, which can be a very long walk and extremely long at MK. There has yet been no announcement as to when tram service will resume and taking the bus is currently the better option.

As to whether it will be warm enough to go in the pool. it just depends sometimes you can have a stretch of high 70s and even low 80s, others a stretch of low 60s or just high 50s. Often in a week, you get some warm days and a couple of cool ones.

We were there first week of December last year (and will be there again that same week this year) and my grantinker was able to swim at the Riviera and AoA both one day each. It was unusually cool that week (38 one morning), but in the afternoon it got up to 70 and the pool water was warm. Wouldn't have wanted to take her at night though.

....I didn't know if this is an 'official' SS thread [or will be] but I thought I'd share some pics:
