Hi all! My parents and future in-laws (all DVC members) have given us points for our honeymoon at Saratoga Springs. DF and I both grew up with OKW and Boardwalk. Any reviews of SS?

Greetings!

I'm an SSR owner, and you'll love it. It is a spread-out multi-building resort (like OWK and PR) that is within walking distance to DTD.

I suggest you check out the DVC Forums for a lot more info.

Be well!

Wow, what great parents you have...DVC on both sides! (Is that how and your fiance met? Not to be nosy.... ;))

We stayed at SSR in Feb. and had a great time. The resort is beautiful, and you can relax and enjoy the spa, play tennis, whatever interests you. The proximity to DTD is terrific, too. We enjoyed our time there, and were able to use it as a hub to get to the other resorts for dining/exploring.

Have a wonderful wedding and honeymoon!

Assuming that you won't go to parks often (why waste your honeymoon on waiting in the line), I think you will enjoy SSR staying very much. And you will enjoy the fireworks at night while walking along the lake (but don't blink your eyes, it's very short) and many activities in the resort, such as spas.

Congtrats on your wedding and wish you many happy years to come with your love one.

There are no longer midnight fireworks at PI. :sad1:

A CM told me that it was because people at SSR complained. I find this hard to believe, and personally, I think it is just one more casualty of the revamp of PI. :sad2:

Anyhoo, SSR is our favorite resort. We are not DVC owners, we fork up the cash to stay there and are happy doing it. It is so worth it to us.

Some people say they feel isolated there, but that is what we LOVE. I think it would be perfect for a honeymoon....quiet, out of the way, and I would also say romantic, but I personally wouldn't know...we have 4 kids..I cannot remember what romantic is!! :rotfl:

But I do know for a solo trip, DH and I would stay at SSR....we love it and the proximity to DTD is a huge plus for us. Ask for a DTD view in Congress Park....really pleasant to sit on the balcony at night and just relax and look across the water.

Enjoy your honeymoon and congrats on your marriage!! :teeth:

I think SSR is romantic. Our favorite part is walking the paths and holding hands. With our Ds's!! LOL!

No Surrey Bikes!! They do have them at SSR, but they are not as prominent as the ones on the B-walk.

Dh and I have been taking dance lessons and look forward to the day, we can leave the boys and go Salsa Dancing at Bongos!

Thanks everyone for your input! We're very excited! Has anyone ever done the spa thing there?

As for how we met---I'm surprised we didn't meet at Disney. Our parents both joined with OKW the first year it opened (yep...we're super lucky). DF is from England and traveled to OKW about 2-3 times a year growing up (we were both 12 when they joined) and I did the same (although, I was from Nashville). I'm sure our paths crossed sometime in Disney over the 15 years we were both going to OKW---but never met. It's odd though how much we have in common. Disney-a-holics!!! This is how bad it is...last weekend, MK and Epcot, today DF is watching my DD5 (soon to be adopted by him) and taking her to MK then I'm meeting them after work...and MGM on Saturday (my dad is picking up a shift--he's CEO of a rather large electrical corporation but when he's in town picks up a management shift at MGM) then MK for dinner with my DM, DD, DF, and DD5....oh...I think we need counseling or something!

I did not know that, thanks for sharing. :guilty:

My home resort is SSR, and my husband and I just love it there! It is beautiful, serene, and close to Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island. The bus service was great, and even though it is not close to MGM or Epcot like Boardwalk or Beach Club, we were still able to go back in the afternoon, sit by the pool, shower, then head out for dinner and the rest of the night. It was great to have peace and quiet after being around everyone in the parks. We can't wait to go back!

I love the spa at SSR. Now I will tell you that it is not the absolute best I have ever been to (that would be the Watermark in San Antonio) but it is a wonderful spa and I would never turn down a massage or manicure there. :cloud9:

We stayed at SSR for the first time in Dec...we love it!! Haven't used the spa yet.

Congratulations...and I enjoyed reading about the very "Disney life" you lead! :teeth:
