i read some where 2 days ago that when stage 2 takes place at this resort they are two build a 2nd swimming pool and wondered if any one new about it. i would hope they might do a better and bigger pool than beach club as this would be amazing to add to this villa.

does any body have any comments on this

thanks

I have heard this as well. I sure hope so!! When I was down there in June the bus driver told me that when totally completed there was going to be 18 buildings. On the maps it is showing 12. We shall see!!

but did he say anything about the swimming pool as i am considering buying into this place or maybee if it does not i am trying to bet into beach club on a resale.

The smart money says there will be additional High-Rock-Spring-sized pools built.

I'm here right now. There is no way to describe the size of this place once it's fully built. This place is HUGE.

There's no way one large pool can accomodate everyone.

I wouldn't hold your breath for anything that resembles Stormalong Bay at BC/YC. Quite frankly, it would take guests away from the water parks. This would be of particular concern given the proximity of SSR to Downtown Disney. Folks could easily take a bus to DD, or walk over from one of the non-Disney DD resort, and attempt to crash the pool.

DVC had the opportunity to build a much larger feature pool when SSR was first designed, and they declined to do it. I seriously doubt that the addition of 600 more rooms will cause them to rethink that decision. We can still hope that DVC elects to add another "feature" pool with similar amenities to the current High Rock Spring pool area. But there simply isn't room to expand High Rock Spring, and I don't see them adding a mini waterpark to Phase 3 of the resort development.

metman12345, did you move to the house you bought near WDW from England? Or is that kind of a second home, how is DL Paris?

DVC tries to kept out cost down as well as its own.

SALB required 7 (might be more) lifeguards there on a daily basis - your maintence fees would have to pay for these guards.

So not having a fancy pool is a benefit to you too.

the pools at OKW are not been used constantly - so at SSR they are trying to get by with less pools.

I think this is a mistake on DVC part - you will get alot of younger buyers at SSR - because of PI - like the kids club thing SSR will need more than one major pool.

I had talked to my guide about the pool when we were there in Aug. of this year. I had ask him if they were going to build a bigger pool by any of the other buildings, because of the size of SSR I told him I thought that the main pool would be too small for all the people that would or could be staying there in the future. He stated that they were not going to build a new pool like the High Rock Spring Pool, but that the quiet pools would be much larger then normal than the other quiet pools in any resort.

SAB has cost more to run than Disney anticipated. They're unlikely to build anything else of that scale at the resorts. However, they know full well how much pool it takes to serve how many resort guests as well as how much food it takes to feed them, so you can be certain that when resort occupancy reaches a certain point, they'll add more swimming and eating opportunities.

Just last week we were told that a 2nd themed pool is being planned because of the addition of a phase III to the SSR project.

I heard just as Cora our guide said another theme pool would be built because of the size. She also said it was due in light of all the concerns we have all expressed, so keep it up they are listening to us.:Pinkbounc

I have been told many times by friends that work for Disney that a pool such as SAB will never be built again. As stated the reason being the cost of maintaining it and staffing it. The pool requires not only more lifeguards but those with water park training.

While SSR will be large when finished it does not feel any larger than OKW to me.

I have to say that I'm concerned over the size of SSR. But I'm very encouraged to read the positive reports from those who just returned. :sunny:

I am a little worried about the pool issue and I have to say that IF another theme pool were a "definite" and IF they decided to add an evening childcare center/kid's club....I wouldn't hesitate to buy. As it is, I'm intrigued and like the proximity to DTD. I know that these issues aren't the most important to everyone...but pools are a BIG deal to my kids LOL. It would certainly be a HUGE added benefit for me. I guess time will certainly tell!
