Hi,

Firstly I aplogise if this sort of question has been asked before.

I am stopping twice at SSR in July and Aug. First in a studio and second in a one bedroom. I have back problems and whilst not classed as disabled if my back chooses to act up, walking can be difficult.

I would like to be near the main pool, boat for DTD. Are there rooms near to these? Is there a bus stop near? (I've heard there are problems with these)

Where would be best to ask for?

I have tried looking on DVC member website but the map on there is not very detailed. Any one know where I can see a more detailed one?

I appreciate any help thank you.

First, here is a link to allearsnet.com for their fact sheet on SSR...from there you can link to photos of the resort.

As for the best location to be near the main pool and DTD...the Springs are closest to the main pool with the Springs bus stop right across the street from the pool. The closest section to DTD is Congress Park, but I know there is a happy medium for the 2. I've been searching for a website that has the SSR map on it so you could see, but I can't remember the www address...sorry...maybe someone will know it and post. Based upon looking at he map given to us during our Christmas stay, I'd say a room in the Springs buildings 3501 - 3836 might work. It's across the street from the pool, the Springs bus stop is right there...but it doesn't offer a DTD view. However, it would not be a bad walk to the boat to get to DTD. IF the DTD view is more important then you might try for Congress Park building 2501 - 2836 as it is the closest building to the main area and the boat dock.

Just remember that any requests you make are only requests, not guaranteed. If you have a medical reason that requires specific needs, then I think you may have a better chance. I believe there might be something special you would have to do to make such a request...the DISabilities board could answer that for you.

Hope this helps!

Hi to all of you who have been to SS. I'm really looking forward to staying there. SS has the new sofa beds and I'm not sure how they work. Will it be "obvious" or are there instructions in the villa?

I saw no instructions, but it was easy enough...remove the cushions, grab the front bar/handle, pull up and out.

We had Congress Park, 2BR room 2410. 4th floor, but very close to Congress bus stop. 10 minute walk to both DTD and Carriage house. Never had any problems with the buses, contrary to what many have posted. Wait times averaged 15-20 minutes, and this was during Christmas week! Didn't bother with internal buses, though. Only saw those twice all week.

Boat dock is a little hard to find...if you cut through the Carriage house through Turf Club out the back door, it puts you close. They run pretty sporadically, though.

We just came back from our trip to WDW and stayed for part of our trip in SSR - Springs section room #3141 ground floor - not my first choice for floor level, but at check in I requested Springs with possible fireworks view), Location was great - 1 bedroom, waterview, and diagonally across from main areas - spa, pool, food, etc.) building was facing main road and about a 2 -5 minute walk to bus stop. Room was in excellent condition, and when we stepped out on our patio or from bedroom window we could see the PI fireworks. Kids said bed was very comfortable better that BCV and easy to open for my 12 yo dd. We really enjoyed the fitness room and spa there. Kids at at Artist's Palette and really liked the food.

In addition, we stayed at BCV for 5 days and were in a 1 bedroom on the 5th floor room #536 (top floor "dead center" overlooking the pool) and that room was in excellent shape too - although the balcony was very small :guilty: THIS is my favorite place!

We also stayed on Xmas eve for 1 night at WL courtyard view - which I love during this time of year (and really all the time) I love that place! Note to self to have dh get a little piece of it

hope this helps !

I was at Saratoga springs in early Dec in congress park building 1112. Patio just looked out on some trees only a few feet away. This is a VERY large resort. If you drive your fine if not get ready for lots of walking. Average bus wait was 20 minutes to +. The interenal bus was non existant. In 10 days I was there never rode it ended up walking forever. One evening coming home after fireworks the line was so long and slow people were grouping up together to take cabs back. Fireworks ended at 9:30 and from the American Pavilion it took me 2 hrs to get back. Nice place but you need a car here.

Hi,

No we wont be driving and I'd heard it was a large resort. Thats why I wanted to request something close to bus, pool, check in, boat etc.
If such a place exsists !

LOL
