We're staying at SSR for the second half of our honeymoon in October. Our first stay there was in December - we stayed in the Springs section, which we loved, as it was so close to the main pool etc.

But, I am tempted to ask for Congress Park this time, if there's any availability, because of the proximity to downtown disney. How close is it via the walkway? We never did find that walkway last time, we just walked out of the security gates. I'm just wondering if it's worth doing. I know we'll be spending a bit of time at the Turf Club, and also the new sit down restaurant. Thoughts please - I'm not concerned about the view, only the proximity to downtown disney, as the view we had from the springs was gorgeous - two little lakes with fountains from our room.

And - whilst we're on the subject of the walkway - where on earth is it? We couldn't find it at all.

It's probably less than a 10-minute walk from the closest Congress Park building. Add about 5 minutes (maybe less) from the furthest Congress Park building. The walkway is right next to the river. Just turn left at the main viewing area past the quiet pool. Follow that path left around the waterway and bingo - you're at the entrance of Downtown Disney.

HTH.

Or follow the sideway on the parking lot side of Congress park toward DD, as you get to the end of the parking lot you will see that the walkway turns to the right and goes toward the lake. At this point it merges with the walkway that goes around the lake and you simply turn left and head toward DD.

I would recommend Congress Park, the views are wonderful.

IF you have a car you can always drive up to the main building. I like Congress park. I had my pick of the resort at 10 am on Mon. I chose 2703 which is 3rd floor facing Cirque, House of blues, Disney Quest, WolfPuck and I think Bongos. It was a great view. We sat on hour balcony and listened to The Killers. I don't know if it was piped music or a live act. I heard 2 songs before I crashed into bed. The windows are the most amazing things. No sound was coming through. I opened up one morning and a guy was right below with a leaf blower. Never knew it.

We just got back. We were in the Springs section and loved being so close to everything. We actually walked to Downtown Disney several times from there, and it was no big deal. I saw other people have given you directions to walk to the Marketplace. If you want to walk to the West End, just go to the boat launch in back of the pro shop. There is a path that leads right to DD --it's a beautiful 10-minute walk. I think some of it is the cart path, so you probably should only take this way after dark. Does anybody know?
