We are staying - for the first time- at someplace other than OKW! We are booked for Saratoga Springs - we have young kids so I was wondering what is there to for them to do at Saratoga? Are there any special things that I can look for? I have never even seen Saratoga so this is new to me!

yes it definitely has activities - a nicer community hall than OKW

try to get springs or grandstand for easier access to their activities.

The biggest difference I noticed between OKW and SSR was the overall rooms. The rooms at SSR were much cleaner than OKW....probably since they are newer! We have stayed at OKW 3 times and SSR 1 time.....I am done with OKW for a bit, it is nice but so is change! Try to get a room with a view of Downtown Disney, the lights of all the stores is pretty neat at night and you can walk there.

We LOVE Old Key West so I am not trying to compare - I just was trying to get an idea of things at Saratoga that the kids might enjoy -

The pool is great for the kids. There is a water spray area at the main pool and also the quiet pool by the grandstand section. I don't know how old your kids are but the main pool is zero entry. This great for little ones.SSR is a great resort we really love it there.

Community Hall is fantastic! There are pool activities & games at the main pool, the quiet pool at the Grandstand has a great splash/spray play area. There is also a playground in the Congress Park section. Bike rentals & Surrey bikes are available too. :)

We really love SSR.

There is plenty to do with children of all ages. The main pool has 2 slides, one for little ones and a Donald splash area.
The rec staff hosts all kinds of games and parties at the pool and there are movies shown at least 3 times a week. Movies start at 8pm at the main pool.

Community Hall has all kinds of activities, including PS2 (soon to be PS3 with flat screens) ping pong, foosball, coloring, games, tv, and guided craft activities such as ceramics, tote bags, magnets, etc.

The Grandstand has a large pool area with spray and splash area. There are at least 2 playgrounds on the property.

A fun thing to do is visit the long bridge to the Paddocks and feed the fish. They are huge!

As mentioned, there is bike and surrey rental.

Walk over to DTD and visit the Lego store play area. The Lego Family and their dogs were back after a brief absence.

T-Rex restaurant will be opening at DTD in the spring and we can't wait! Nice to have something the boys will like.

Congress Park along the water is absolutely gorgeous at night. My family loved walking and pushing strollers along at night.

Hope you have a great trip!

My kids (8 and 3) love SSR!!! Of course they love Disney in general and have never not loved a DVC resort but they love SSR because:

Love the slide at the main pool
love the play area at the Grandstand pool
Love getting to go hit golf balls on the driving range (8 yr old had never played befroe and loved this!!!)
love the fun activities planned everyday near the pool or community center
love Artist Palette and drawing while eating

I'm sure your kids will love it! Have fun!

Amy

The Community Hall at SSR has always had awesome activities for the kids when we've stayed. Some of the activities are free, but some have a small charge (usually if they get to make something to take with them). Another fun thing that I have done with my daughter while we were at the BWV was to rent bicylces from the community hall and ride around the Boardwalk. At SSR you could ride around the resort. :wizard:

A lot.

Other than what has been mentioned, make sure you look for the Horsin' Around activities schedule in your Welcome Home folder. This details all the activities the staff hosts for guests throughout the week.

They've also been doing movies by the pool in the warmer months of the year. Tends to be a big hit with the kids.

The lifeguards run pool games several times at the main pool. And there are parties every Sunday afternoon as well as other activities.

Grandstand!!! - Our kids 7 & 3 loved the Grandstand's water play area. It was a HUGE hit! Also with staying in Grandstand you are only a short walk away from the main pool with its two slides and zero entry pool.
