Sarahsmom (Jen's) Journal (feel free to comment)

I had 324 minutes this past week on the treddie!!! YAY ME!

On the down side, My knee locked up in class on Thursday. I was stuck on the floor in my classroom with my knee bent with a class full of kids.. I finally got it unlocked... I saw our PT at school and she did some tests. She thinks I either have torn my meniscus, have a floater or a bend in my meniscus.. She told me to rest it yesterday and to maybe just walk for a few days.. She thinks I may be pushing too hard on the running... I rested last night even though it about killed me.. Today I am going to walk.. cool it on the incline and not push the speed.. I want to keep the exercize up... (I am hoping it is a floater because I can keep up the exercize!!!

DD has a birthday party to go to today and I will grocery shop while I am in town...

6 full days and 2 half days with kids until spring break !!! ( we have 2 weeks off but are not going anywhere!

:grouphug: REst that knee Jen! Even though it's killing you...it's better to be able to go back to running than to do any permanent damage! Good idea with just a walk today.

Lucky you...2 weeks off from school! We only get a week...it's only the week after Easter! But I'm sure you'll love having that time off...hopefully the weather will finally be nice for you.

Have a great weekend! :flower:

So sorry to hear about your knee! Hopefully it will stop acting up soon and get the message that it's better to work with you than against you!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Oh Jen!

I can really relate to knee trouble and the agony of staying off the treadmill!!!! I hope you knee improves ASAP! :flower:

I'm glad DD is feeling better. My DS had a couple of weeks of fever coming and going. Just 9 more days until Spring! :flower: :flower: :flower:

Sunny

I am so unpatient!!!! Working out has become such a huge part of my life, both physically and mentally. I rested again yesterday but I am walking a nice long, flat walk today. I need that exercize high!!!

Has anyone read "French Women Don't Get Fat" by Mireille Guiliano? I would really like to read it. I would love to be able to concentrate on the moderation piece. I know I am getting closer to being able to do this!

Goals fof the day:

Good Stretching walk! I want to complete my 6.2 miles even if it is a slower pace.

Very balanced eating day.

Breakfast: 1 cup of All Bran with a splash of milk 1/2 cup of strawberries, Water.

Coffee

Lunch: small chef salad with olive oil lemon and garlic dressing.
Water

Dinner: New England Pot Roast (Meat, carrots and onions ~ no potatoes for me) Salad. water

I am going to get better at posting my food so I am accountable to myself!

Here is to a wonderful, sunny, day!

Pot roast sounds delicious! Have a great weekend!

That pot roast sounds yummy. Do you cook it in the oven or in a crock pot? What else do you put in it? Wine? Lipton onion soup? Just wondering.

I do it on top of the stove with beef broth.. The secret ingedient is to coat the meat with an entire jar of horseradish!! It adds awesome flavor!!!

I am so excited!!! I did a double treddie session today with no trouble with my knee! A total of 10.25 miles in 139 minutes!!!! YAY me!!! :cool1: The disney half is looking more realistic every day! :sunny:

I think it is mostly for flavor...

Whew! It is Monday! This will be a crazy start of the week! We have a choral showcase rehearsal and concert to celebrate Music in our Schools month. Today we will be working out the bugs with 250 kids in grade 4 - 10 in preparation for tomorrow nights concert... I am excited and nervous...

I hope to get in a really good workout tonight.. I doubt very much it will be 10.25 miles but I am hoping for 5! I have slowed my pace a bit and my knee feels fine... That is a good sign!

Food for the day

Breakfast 1/2 cup of all bran with strawberries and a splash of milk, coffee, water

Lunch: Chef salad with olive oil lemon garlic vinegrette.

Dinner: NE Pot roast with carrots and onion

And WATER WATER everywhere!!! :cool1:

Hey Jen,

I hope you have a wonderful week! Sounds like it will be a busy one for you.

Take care! :grouphug:

Hi Jen! :wave2:

Thanks so much for the encouragement and support you often leave in my journal. I really appreciate it! ::yes::

Did I miss the thyroid panel test results? Also, how are you feeling on your meds? Has that daily bout of queasy tummy gone away?

Your running / walking / treaddie workouts are amazing!! Be careful about overuse injuries, though. Rest days are really important - gotta give your body time to repair itself.

Best wishes for a wonderful rehearsal today and concert tomorrow evening!

Sounds like you have a busy week before your break! Glad the knee is feeling better!!

I was also wondering about your thyroid...because I started back on my thyroid medicine, but my dr. mentioned that I may need to be treated for depression. I asked her if I could wait until my next appt in April to see how I feel after started back on the thyroid meds.

Have a great week!!

Gail

My thyroid numbers are slightly low? My Doc says she wants to watch them as they aren't really where she wants to treat them with meds...

The queasy tummy and dry mouth are history and I feel really good.. I can't beleive how much of the edge the meds have taken off. Last week I was a little weepy at times. Most of the time I feel really good. I think it is the combo of meds and exercize!

Tonight is the big show! 250 kids on the stage from grades 4 - 10!!!! I am really wired!

I had a good eating day yesterday and today it will be salad for lunch and dinner as I will just stay at school as we have a staff mtg (YUK!)

Only 3 whole days and 2 1/2 days until I have 2 weeks off for spring break! :cool1:

Thanks for stoppiing by everyone!

I hear ya about the meds. It took time for my body to adjust to them. Even now, I don't dare take my pill on an empty stomach. Not sure which meds you're taking (feel free to PM me if you'd rather not post it here) but please know that with some meds withdrawal symptoms can appear even if you miss only 1 or 2 doses. You may want to stash some backup pills where you'll always have them handy in case you forget a regular dose. Mine are in my purse so they are always with me.

Best wishes for a wonderful show this evening. I truly believe that a performance is much harder on the teachers than it is on the students. You've worked so hard but yet it isn't YOU performing - you just have to stand back and pray. I bet it will be great!

Have a terrific Tuesday! :sunny:
