How we met: We met in May of 2004 through a mutual friend. Joey and I had talked through my friend a few times but had never met. One night, we drove from Worcester to Malden (60 miles!) to bring him food at 3 a.m. We picked up another friend on the way and around 6 in the morning the sneaks left Joey and I together alone in his apartment. We took a nap on the couch until 2 that afternoon (and nothing else, I swear), and talked/visited over the next month. We became a couple at the end of June and have been together since. I unofficially moved in with him in August 2005 to go to school, and we moved into our own apartment together in '06. He brought me to Disneyworld for the first time in May of 2005 and we've gone twice a year since then. It's our favorite place, especially the beach at the Polynesian and walking around the Grand Floridian.

The proposal: We just got engaged September 18th. I was NOT expecting it at all but I'm so excited. His sister had sneakily asked me what kind of ring I wanted but I didn't think anything of it because we always talk about wedding things and she was showing me the different rings she liked. I didn't even know he had the ring. He tricked me into thinking he was bringing a chair and tv to his sister's place up by NH but instead he brought his whole family to look for a ring with him. They all agreed on one ring, which makes it even more special to me. I love his family so much. He asked me on our balcony, our special spot that overlooks Boston. It was perfect. My ring (1 ct brilliant solitaire):

It's hard to get a good picture of a ring.

Coming up: picture planning! :)

Please feel free to give me your ideas and feedback if you like one dress, bouquet, favor, etc! I have a few listed for each and would appreciate any help!

We started planning for the wedding. It's going to be in late October, so we're having a fall gerber daisy theme. My colors are cranberry/wine red, maize yellow, burnt orange, and brown. I really want a warm, vibrant atmosphere, and fall colors and decorations really seem to bring that out. Cozy is my main goal. I've been looking into venues, and my only request is that there is a fireplace. Sounds simple enough but it's really hard to find a reception site that has one!

I'm going to have gerber daisy & candle floating centerpieces in hurricane bowls or vases surrounded by cranberry petals. Here are some of the designs I like:

Haha while I was commenting, you posted a lot more! lol.
I love dress #2, I actually saved it to my "possibilities folder".. and I love your bridesmaid colors!

congratulations on your engagement! i LOVE your colors, they look so warm and inviting! can't wait to hear about all of your plans!

Joe and I are both getting two wedding bands...one set will be plain white gold to wear to work, and the other two will be the expensive set that we wear out...I'm going to be an ER nurse in May and can't wear my expensive jewelry there because I take gloves on and off constantly and also work with a high risk population. I would be devastated if something happened to my wedding jewelry.

My rings...one is a plain 14k white gold 3mm band...the other will be a 1 or 2 carat prong-set diamond eternity band...I thought I had my heart set on a 2 ct, but I saw the 1 ct in a jewelry store and tried it on for the heck of it...I loved the way it looked with my solitaire. I wear a size 5 and the 1 ct didn't swallow my finger the way the 2 ct did, but I'm still not sure what I'm getting...The whole point of choosing a solitaire is because I'm getting a wrap that has two diamonds, one on either side of the head of the solitaire to make it a Mickey Mouse shape. I also don't want a giant wedding band to take away from it.
