I tried searching Disney.com, but this part is down, or "not found." Reading here is the first time I've heard of the Reindeer Roundup. We will be there Dec 6-10, and I'd love to see it. Is this something we need to buy tickets to, or is it included in our admission? Also, where, exactly do we need to go, and what time?

No, it's there all the time during holiday season. Just head over to Big Thunder Ranch. It's done up at Christmastime with Santa's reindeer and other Christmas-y stuff. Have fun!

It's really neat! They have live reindeer, a Christmas cabin where you can meet Santa and get a picture if you like, and I think they also do cookie decorating.

As others have said, this is the Big Thurnder Ranch area just made over for the holidays. Instead of the usual goats in the petting zoo area, there are Reindeer (but you cannot go inside the petting zoo during Reindeer Roundup, you can just look at them).

Santa will be inside the little cabin and Ms. Claus will also be around sometimes (we have seen her on the porch of the cabin and also in BBQ area on past trips). Other characters will come and go in that area as well.
They have tables set up with special holiday coloring sheets and crayons. We love to take a few minutes to just sit and let the kids color while we watch the reindeer, etc.

The area opens at 10 and if you want a picture with Santa, I would suggest lining up there a little before 10 as the line for Santa does get long (you line up outside the Ranch gates and when they open them, go straight to the cabin.
It is on our list of not-to-be-missed areas during the holiday season. Previously they used to do shows on the stage next door and my son was picked one year as the official holiday tree lighter (cute show with, if I recall correctly, CMs Chris and Farley). But I don't know if they do that show anymore since it became a restaurant.

Super charming part of the park. Cookies cost extra to decorate. Santa leaves before the park closes, so if you want to see him, don't wait until the end of the day. Its kind of a dark area of the park at night....and the Christmas lights they have in the trees over there really stand out and are very pretty.

I spent hours at the Round-Up in one single afternoon last year, doing nothing but taking pictures!

Come and join us in the Disneyland at Christmas Time Superthread and please feel free to post any questions you have - there are a lot of Disneyland/Christmas experts in that thread who can help- and tons of photos!

Santa & Mrs. Claus and the reindeer are already there. There has not been cookie decorating there for at least 3 years (since the table service restaurant opened).

I'm not sure where it was last year, but the cookies were near Coke Corner in 2009.

We asked last year but could not find them at all. In 2009 we found them by coke corner on a cart (as the PP said). But last year the only cookie decorating they had was near the Princess Fantasy Faire and the cookies were shaped like a castle (with pink and blue icing..nothing Holiday themed). I hope they bring back the Christmas cookie decorating this year. My kids loved doing that.
