A man was asked to leave or alter his appearance because Disney said he was impersonating Santa Claus.

That's a fairly common thing at WDW. They don't want your apperance to take away from any of the magic from the other guests. I have seen Bride and Grooms who come in full dress and tux asked to go and change. They don't want guests to be confused with a guest that are acting the part vs the cast members that are putting on the real show. I understand it might look bad at first glance but they really do it because they care about all the guests. It's also common practice that when they do have to send someone out of the park for this kind of situation that they do something special for the person being asked to leave. Such as free park tickets, fastpasses, lunch, ETC. The best way I can explain it is you would not let someone come on stage during a performace and disturb all the hard work of the actors (cast members) that has been done to put on a GREAT show. Not to mention the security issue this causes. Can you imagine how you would feel if a child was harmed by someone that was acting like santa clause at Disney then come to find out that he does not even work there, what would you think about Disney and their security then?

We just returned and saw this story on the news in Orlando. He was not kicked out for looking like Santa, which he does, but children were going up to him asking him if he was Santa and he said yes. So the problem is he was telling children who asked him he was indeed Santa.

The man just happens to look like Santa, but you have to be some kinda crazy to tell kids you are...espically in WDW where the illusion is kept alive by only 1 Santa by Town Hall for all to see.

We were in the Mk and my DH and I saw a man who looked EXACTLY like Santa in casual clothes (maybe this man on the news) he was dressed in red with a Santa hat. We thought it was a little weird, then we saw the story on the news that night and wondered if it was the same guy.

Hmmmm, I look a lot like Santa, belly like a bowl of jelly, and white beard. Christmas of 2005 we were at WDW and I was wearing one of those Santa hats with Mickey ears(purchased at WDW) and had a whole lot of people making Santa references.Bus drivers were even greeting me as Santa. I was in no way impersonating Santa it is just the way I look so I can see how a guy tryin to impersonate Santa could be a problem.

Normally I do not like to quote an entire post like this, but yours is so well written, and makes the case for expelling the fake "Santa" so clear that it bears repeating.

Can you imagine what might follow if WDW allowed fake characters to roam the parks?

Case closed!

OHH can I be Mickey? :goodvibes PLEASE PLEASE...LOL :rotfl2:

We were in EPCOT a few days after Christmas in 2002. We saw a man in a wheelchair with a big white beard. The wheels of the chair were decorated with sparkly garlands. He MAY have had on red trousers (or maybe we just remember that) ... anyway he looked just like Santa on vacation!
DD and I giggled and whispered to each other that he did look like Santa relaxing after a very busy holiday season. It's a fun memory.

OK, you've got us all curious. Now you've got to post a picture, don't keep us all wondering just how much you look like Santa.
