Last night, I saw the trailer for the third (and supposedly final) installment in this series. Most of the original cast is back, with the exception of the actor who played Bernard. Martin Short also has a starring role as Jack Frost.

Release date is set for sometime in November, which probably means the first Friday after Halloween.

Am I the only one who thinks they shouldn't be making this movie?

Sarangel have to agree the first was great. The second was poor at best don't see the need to beat a dead horse. :confused3

Don't get me wrong. I will not see it and have no desire to see it. But kids might get a kick out of it, who knows.

C'mon Sara, number 2 made $140 million. What more reason do you need? You'll never make it in Hollywood with that thinking.

Excellent news - can't wait. Hope it's released before Christmas in the UK !!

Can we just talk about how Tim Allen is in Love with Disney.... Like honestly he has been in SOOO many Disney productions

For Example

Toy Story (1 & 2 maybe 3)

Santa Clause (s)

Shaggy Dog

Home Improvement

Jungle 2 Jungle

Big Trouble

Wild Hogs (2007)

What more reason do you need?
Just thinking about all the really great movies that could be made with the $100 mil they drop in this stinker. All those great and unique scripts, all those heartwarming tales that will never be - all because some suit thought he could finally buy that condo in Aspen with a line like "I invented chill".

Making movies is just a job for a lot of people. They don't really care what they make - someone will pay money to see it and there are car payments, morgages and old rehab bills to pay off. SC3 is a quick and easy movie that slides through a studio just because everyone thinks it will be little effort for the money. Show enough TV commericals and the public will come running to the theaters like hogs to the slop.

Hollywood in general treats all of you like you're idiots, but after Stick It, The Shaggy DA, and now Santa Disney must really think you're brainless.

After POTC, HM, Country Bears, all that straight to DVD/VHS garbage. Sorry to burst your bubble AV but DISNEY already knows that Americans are brainless, idiot hogs. How else could these movies be so successful?

Disney has become the McDonalds, no, the Walmart of the entertainment world.

Why stop kicking the horse when money keeps coming out ? :rotfl2:

At least it's not going on to #4 "Beclause We Wanted Some Christmas Cash".

But these days there are many more expensive, hyper-marketed bombs than there are success (Mission: Impossible 3, Posidean, The Omen are the latest examples) - that's enough to keep a glimer of hope alive.

looks good! DD8 will want to see it and it gets released (trailer says Nov 3)while we are on the Magic - sweet!!! pixiedust:

I will miss Bernard though. Someone at IMDB mentioned an article where Krumholtz stated he wanted to be in it - but Disney didn't (did not mention why).

First of all, you can take POTC out of that sentence, because that was a terrific film.

Also, do you think this is something unique to Disney? Big Studios make bad films to make lots of money. And they always will.

I guess if you get your jollies wearing your “My Studio Makes More Money Than Your Studio” t-shirt around the neighborhood you don’t really care what kind of movies Disney makes. And I do suppose some people do equate being a fan with being Balance Sheet Cheerleader.

But shocking as it sounds, most people like Disney because they make great movies that people actually enjoy watching. And most people want Disney to make more and even better movies.

Disney doesn’t sell plush animals based on the economic returns of a movie, they sell because the public loves the character. No one picks a movie because it has some really cleaver backend Eurobond financing, they go because the story intrigues them.

And while Disney is trying really hard at your strategy – making bad movies (The Shaggy Dog, Stick It, etc.), they can’t get the making money part down. One wonders if Disney had chosen to make good movies than the Studio might actually turn a profit. No other studio else if firing 10%-25% of their workforce because of rotten finances.
