Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause

Am I the only one who thinks they shouldn't be making this movie?

I agree with you, Sarangel.

I liked the first one, and lost interest at the second one. I can't imagine dragging myself to the new one. :goodvibes

After POTC, HM, Country Bears, all that straight to DVD/VHS garbage. Sorry to burst your bubble AV but DISNEY already knows that Americans are brainless, idiot hogs. How else could these movies be so successful?

Disney has become the McDonalds, no, the Walmart of the entertainment world.

I have to disagree.. POTC was one of the best movies ever.... ANd number 2 will be even better.... with the third one surpassing the first two...

Well, lets not get crazy. The first movie was great. I'm playing a wait and see game with #s 2 and 3.

Obviously you haven't seen very many movies. To call POTC one of the "best movies ever", you are making a very bold statement. I'm sure that in your opinion it is one of the best, but I can assure you that there are probably hundreds that are MUCH better.

As to #2 and 3, well I guess you are pretty good at reading the future. So did you like #3?

Look. I am sure that both will be very successful at the box office. Disney has mastered the art of training all of you to see whatever they dish out. On the other hand, maybe these POTC films are good. Either way, I don't care.

On principle, I will not see this or any POTC movie. I strongly disagree with theme park attractions being turned into movies. I know that there are many of the die hard fans of the hour who will jump at anything that Disney does. I am no longer on the Disney bandwagon, but rather am a longtime fan of the real Disney.

Enjoy your Pirates movie and the newly destroyed ride as well. Look for movies about the Monorail, Tiki Room, the ticket booths and that tiny men's room next to the Plaza Inn to hit your theaters in the near future.

Man you are bitter. I don't know what you mean by a fan of the "real Disney". I guess what you like is real and what you don't isn't. How very nice for you. May I suggest you get over yourself.

As far as Disney fans being mindless drones as you seem to suggest, Can you please explain how Country Bears and Haunted Mansion did so poorly? Or some of the animated movies like Valiant and the Wild?

Now you criticize Tink's Tormentor for proclaiming that the new Pirates movies are going to be great when she hasn't even seen them yet. But then you state that the Pirates ride has been destroyed. I must assume you were able to travel to the future and go on the new ride. Lucky you.

So how was the new Pirates ride?

OK, guys... Not only are we off topic, but the last couple of posts are bordering on violating the rule about not attacking individual posters, only opinions. Please remember to be nice and that other posters are allowed to have their opinions - even if you, personally, don't happen to agree with them.

If a good story makes a good theme park attraction, why shouldn't that story become the basis of a good movie?

So let me get this straight. If I don't like something Disney does I am bitter? If I don't jump for joy because Disney is "enhancing" a perfectly good 40 year old ride to promote a movie, there is something wrong with ME? If YOU disagree with something I say, I have the problem?

The moderator was both right and wrong about the attacks. I was not attacking Tink's Tormentor, but rather stating an opinion. Unfortunately, just because you didn't like what I stated about POTC and the Real Disney, you felt the need to attack me. If that is what gets you off, then go for it.

I have dealt with your types before. "Disney purists are stubborn and don't appreciate all of the great things the company has done." Yada, Yada, Yada.
Until you can come up with some new material, save your self-righteous Disney cheerleader act for someone who cares.

Nicer... Or I'll close the thread.

I'll try to be nicer but it may be difficult. I never said you have to like anything. Like whatever you want I could care less. I'm merely pointing out how you "attacked" Tink's Tormentor (and you did -anyone can see that) for saying she will like the next two Pirate movies when she hasn't even seen them yet. But in the next breath you say they've ruined the Pirates ride when you haven't seen that yet. Thats hypocrisy at its finest.

And frankly I've dealt with your types before too. Unless I blast everything that Disney does I'm a "pixie duster" whatever that is. You can label me all you want for giving the next Disney movie a chance or the redo Pirates ride a chance. I really don't care.

And what exactly is a "Disney purist"? Is this the same thing as a fan of the "real" Disney? Thats what I resent about your previous post most of all. You claim to be a fan of the "real" Disney. So if someone disagrees with you then they are not a fan of the "real" Disney. Thats ridculous. You have no clue as to what the "Real Disney" is.

I guess the thread will probably be closed now.

I guess if you get your jollies wearing your “My Studio Makes More Money Than Your Studio” t-shirt around the neighborhood you don’t really care what kind of movies Disney makes. And I do suppose some people do equate being a fan with being Balance Sheet Cheerleader.

Wow, that's a fascinating misinterpretation of what I said. That's not like you AV. Obviosly I never ascribed this little fantasy of yours to myself, only wanted to point out that Disney is no different then other studios.

But shocking as it sounds, most people like Disney because they make great movies that people actually enjoy watching. And most people want Disney to make more and even better movies.

Disney has made a truckload of bad films, and some that Walt made too. That's a subjective thing. Need I remind you that the film we are talking about made a boatload of money? So I am guessing their are quite a few people out there that disagree with both of us as to what is and isn't bad.

Disney doesn’t sell plush animals based on the economic returns of a movie, they sell because the public loves the character. No one picks a movie because it has some really cleaver backend Eurobond financing, they go because the story intrigues them.

No kidding, really? Does that have anything to do with what I said?

And while Disney is trying really hard at your strategy – making bad movies (The Shaggy Dog, Stick It, etc.), they can’t get the making money part down. One wonders if Disney had chosen to make good movies than the Studio might actually turn a profit. No other studio else if firing 10%-25% of their workforce because of rotten finances

This is all very true, but it does not extend to this film. It made plenty of money. So why are we talking about this? Every studio is going to make a bad film, and usually as often as a good one. That could be because of these things you say, or it could be that what you and I think is "bad" is not what millions of others think is bad. For one, we already know how different our opinions are. Sometimes companies, and not just in cinema, go for history and sometimes they dont. That's what makes a studio a successful one, which Disney is and has been. For every Santa Clause 14, the is a Miracle. For every Hanunted Mansion, there is a PoTC. We can all agree that things can get better, and hopefully now they will

First, let me clarify something.. I am a HE not a she... LoL..

Disney Fan (backwards) yes, you are entitled to your opinion. That's cool.... And yes I do think Pirates 2 will be awesome.. and yes I do think Pirates 3 will be awesome... You questioned if I saw into the future with my claiming 2 and 3 will surpass the 1st one.. yet, you claim the ride was destroyed with the refurb, however, the ride is 2 weeks away from opening.. so, how come I cannot say POTC 2 and 3 will surpass POTC 1, but you can claim a ride was destroyed before it even opens??

honestly, if you feel that way, wonderful.. one less person I have to stand behind as I go enjoy a product Disney is offering me.. maybe you would rather ride the stale and out dated attractions in the theme park about 10 miles down the road????

but, have your opinion.. you are entitled to it..

P.S. I consulted my crystal ball and it told me thatin 2006 Super-man will be taken down, not my Kyptonite, but by a pirate.. And in 2007, a green ogre names Shrek will be dismantled by a swashbuckler named Jack...

I have to say that I didn't see where Tink's Tormentor was attacked. It looks like you may have started the attacking on this one. It also seems like you might have submitted this reply with the hopes that the thread would be closed. I'm glad that it has not been because I believe in free and open debate.

There is nothing wrong with what the "purist" said. He/she was stating opinions with (I'd assume) a bit of sarcasm. You were unrelenting in your attack on him/her and I think anyone can see that. This is probably just the way that you live your life. Sobeit. It's easy for people to show their real selves when they can hide their own identity, using these boards.

BTW, I'm proud to be a Disney Purist.

You are absolutely right. I did go after him/her. But I strongly disagree that I started it. He/she was a little more than stating opinions with sarcasm. They were condescending in tone especially the "Real Disney" nonsense. And logically inconsistent. Which was what I was setting forth. In fact, my reply to him/her was basically repeating what he/she first said to Tink's Tormentor.

I couldn't agree with you more about keeping the post open. I hope it stays that way. The first visciousness here was not me as far as I'm concerned.

Don't even begin to pschyoanalyze me and think you know how I live my life. Thats insulting. My first initial post was a sarcastic critique of an illogical position. I was clearly not the first one to get personal. Which you are obviously doing now for some bizarre reason.

As far as I'm concerned "exDS vet", I'm the only one here whose using their name. So you're last shot is irrelevant. Typical.

OK. My first shot at Disney Fan might have been a little over the top. I'll concede that. Maybe. But I find that whole "I'm a fan of the REAL Disney and you're not" rant objectionable and ludicrous. I consider myself a fan of the Real Disney.

I agree with you.. Especially those people who "KNOW" what Walt would do if he were alive today.... And what exactly is the "REAL" Disney?? Last time I checked, Disney World was real and not a figment of my imagination LOL....
