I spent last night in the ER again, DS fractured the same finger.....again! What joy for a 10 almost 11 yo boy to do that to where else but his middle finger, lol. Not so much fun for Mom who has to keep reminding him that it is not a weapon or a naughty gesture. I get home last night to see the end of Santa Claus is Coming to Town, after going to Ct the night before to see the Holiday Light Parade, I am really getting into the spirit of the holiday season. As I sit there I begin to think about how some things are so magical and feel that child like wonder inside. I think of the elves who I used to think saw my every move at holiday time and then of the tag fairies who are unseen and yet bring joy and a smile and maybe some child like wonder to us all. As I sit and comb DD, 6, very lonnnnggggg hair this morning I casually mention that when I got home last night from the hospital with Nick I saw an elf. She says no way, I say way. I tell her the elf might have just been double checking to see who is naughty or nice, she laughs and says no way Mom, there are no such things as elves. Aaaaah the 6 yo of 2003. So I begin my mantra of santa claus, elves, and tag fairies.....I see that glimmer of wonder and questioning in her childlike eyes and she leaves for school.....wondering and excited too!

When my then 7 yo (ten+ years ago) question if there was a Santa I had someone from work call the house and pretended he was the BIG Guy and since he was able to tell him alot of stuff that a fake Santa wouldn't know he started to believe there really was a Santa!!!

<font color=navy>Thank you for sharing the wonder of the season. :) Your post made me smile.

When my 14 yr old dd was 3, it was a couple of days before Christmas. It was evening, and she went out in the backyard. A few moments later, she raced into the house shouting to us that she had seen Rudolph's nose high in the air above our house. She proceeded to open all the doors wide so Santa would have no problem entering our home. That sighting kept her believing until she was 10 years old, and someone in the family (uh, Mom), unintentionally let the cat, or reindeer as it were, out of the bag.

Sweet memory for me. :earsgirl:

Hope your little one heals quickly.

We all could use an extra large dose of child-like wonder in my opinion! Thanks for doing your part to carry on the tradition! :D
