We always go when we visit my parents in Fort Myers. Great bike riding with bike paths, DON'T miss the Bubble room!!! Jerry's Market has great lunches and parrots for the kids to enjoy! If you get tired of the beach, it really isn't that far of a drive to see and go just about anywhere.
If you are looking for a laid-back, low stress vacation, go for it!!

I agree with the previous poster- your kids will Love sanibel and Captiva! It is my favorite place in the world! Yes, relaxing but abundant wildlife, great food beautiful beaches, your children will enjoy seeing the wildlife, heron, osprey a pelicans etc., also like the previous poster said dolphins very close- on our last trip we saw a manatee swimming very close! Libby, it is so good to see you here! I am a "lurker" on best of sanibel captiva under the name of captivainmyheart- i have enjoyed your site vey much! i think you should take a chance on sanibel/captiva i think you will not be dissapointed! have a great day!.......princessj
