Please help! I would prefer to fly in/out of MCO, but I am getting a much better rate on a flight into Sanford and the outgoing airport is smaller and closer to home. I will miss having Magical Express and need to take the cost of a towncar into consideration. Has anyone flown into Sanford before? Is it much further? Is is it a pain to get to/from if not renting a car? Any benefits to Sanford? What should I do???????????????

We have flown into Sanford before. It is a smaller airport. The drive took us about 40 minutes to get to WDW. It was a pretty easy drive.

Many people pick the Sanford airport, and Allegiant Air, because it provides them with direct flights from cities closer to their homes. In many cases the savings is a pretty good amount of money. Traveling through the Sanford Airport is very easy, actually quite a bit different than Orlando. The terminal is new and very roomy.

The only drawback is you are going to have to pay for your transportation to Disney because DME does not service the Sanford Airport. It is about a 50 minute drive using 417, a tollway. Actually a pleasant drive with no extraordinary traffic problems.

Can anyone tell me the most economical way to get to and from? (2 kids and 1 adult)

The website for Orlando Sanford International Airport has transportation options and is located at:

http://www.orlandosanfordairport.com/

The savings on your airfare can easily be eaten up by your cost of getting to and from Disney World. The cheapest option is renting a car but if you were not going to rent one if flying into Orlando International, then you'll need to add this into your cost comparisons. If you were going to rent a car anyway then you can definitely save money flying into SFB. A taxi or town car to Disney is unfortunatly quite expensive.

The airport really is not that far away; tucked away in the northeast suburbs of Orlando. Disney is easily and directly reached via TOLL 417 (Seminole Expressway/Central Florida Greeneway).

We flew into Sanford in June and were really impressed with the airport. Very clean and the people were helpful. We rented a car from Alamo-we stayed off site anyway. We got a full size car for $103 including all taxes and fees! So it might be cheaper to rent a car and then leave it parked than it will be to hire a towncar! It was an easy drive to our resort in Kissimmee, around 40-45 minutes. Check the link provided by the PP for transportation options. You might be pleasantly surprised!

We have flown into Sanford before and found it to be much more pleasant than MCO with three kids in tow. This time we are staying on property and didn't want to rent a car. Appreciate any pro/con about any of the transportation shuttles via Sanford. Anyone pleased with their transfer, and how much was it? Families of five usually don't fit into the cheapest rental cars....:teacher:
