Sanford airport to Disney?

We weren't planning on renting a car the first day. But the flight leaves Bangor late enough that we don't have to do a park & fly at a hotel there which saves us $40. And we were planning on getting a cab to premium outlets so now we don't have to do that either. Those 2 expenses basically pay for the rental so it's as if it doesn't cost us any extra!! I have never flown into Sanford before. The ME was the only downfall but at least now we can be on our terms and we have some stops we can make. Plus can't complain about a $250 savings lol.

I prefer Sanford to MCO mainly because there are no security lines and the security people are very nice and helpful. MCO security lines are a nightmare when you're trying to juggle multiple children, strollers, etc. I like flying in and out of smaller airports.

Allegiant isn't a bargan like you think either. It is 30 round trip per bag. It is like 13-15 dollars per person per flight to pick a seat (which we do to ensure we are all together with DD.) and another $5 for priority boarding, which we don't do, but they act like you should.

For us, it is a bargain, because we're not checking any luggage. If I am flying with my husband, I wouldn't care if I sat next to him-after almost 27 years of marriage, I'd survive without him at my hip. And who needs priority boarding?? I don't care if the act like I need it, I can easily turn it down.

I like that Allegiant gives me the option to save by not selecting options I don't want. If I can save $30 and not take a big suitcase, I like having that choice. Or, if I want to sit together, I can pay for it-or not, it's my choice.

I have a choice of driving 2 hours to Pittsburgh's airport, paying for parking, and going through the hassles a big, international airport has. Or I can drive 2 hours to Hagerstown, MD, and have free parking, and a much easier process getting on the plane.

It's a trade-off: we get free parking at Hagerstown, but have to rent a car. The car is more money, but added perks like the easier process of getting on the plane, easier access to Hagerstown vs Pittsburgh makes it a winner for us!! :thumbsup2

FYI!

Starting Feb. 1, 2010, Allegiant Air will no long fly several of its routes into Sanford airport. They will now be flying into Orlandio International (MCO).

I know the Lexington, KY route is moving for one. Check with the Allegiant Air website or Facebook page for more info if you were planning a trip with them soon.

They must have been doing 100mph down I-4! :)

I think it is about 50 miles from Sanford Airport to center of WDW. 30 minutes would be quite a trip for that distance considering a few lights.

No it's not.

From my house in Deltona to Chip n Dale parking lot at MK is 53 miles. From Lake Mary Blvd to Chip n Dale is 30 miles. You CAN make it in about 30 minutes IF I4 is cooperating with you without doing more than 65 MPH (which BTW is the speed limit for most of I4).

Add 8 miles if you drive from SFD to I4 using Lake Mary Blvd (and about 15 minutes)

I-4 is 55mph from exit 94 to just past Maitland Blvd interchange and then it drops to 50mph. It doesn't get back to 65mph until after the SeaWorld exit as you near DTD. But, yeah, good luck driving at that speed during non-rush hour and surviving. :)

Doesn't look like Toledo is tho. I checked a trip for March and it still flew into Sandford. I would love it if they did.
