DAY THREE ~
Monday, April 22

Mickey wake up call 8am! I miss that sooooooo much! What better way to greet the day? We were also greeted daily by two bunny rabbits that lived in the bushs outside our door! It was very special! Today was AK day. It was our first Character Caravan at CSR and I was excited to see it in action. I was a supporter of Character Caravans in principle before I even saw one. CSR had them Mon, Wed, Fri 8:10am-8:40am and again at 9:10am-9:40am. The characters gathered around Bus Stop 1 outside El Centro. It was a little confusing and really needs organizaing. The CM in charge didn't have a clue what was going on. The parents took over and created lines and order to the whole thing ~ a real "family" effort of friendly folks ~ that was nice! We saw Goofy, Rafiki, King Louis and Timon. Rafiki was a BIG hit with ds (2). DS is into MONSTERS and I think Rafiki resembled a scary guy and ds loved him! We were at AK by 9:30am. CSR is in a very good location for MGM, BB and AK. Even Epcot and MK were very close. We picked up our gift from the Disney survey, it was a fabulous LARGE fanny safari pack with lots of pockets and Mickey Mouse on it! $20 value at least! I was surprised at the great gift! DD loved it! We went over to Dinoland and rode Dinosaur TWICE! It's a walk-on ride at 9:30am! That is the scariest ride for me! I love rides, the wackier the better, but this one scares the geebees out of me. I love it! We did Tric. Spin and Prim. Whirl. I agree with lots of other folks' review of the new area in Dinoland. It's a really cheesy carnival trip into "WHAT THE HECK WAS DISNEY THINKING LAND!" I liked the two new rides though, nice to see a 3 and under ride for ds. We rushed over to Tarzan Rocks. Good, but not as great as Legends of the Lion King we saw at AK last year. Lion King made me cry it was so beautiful. I liked Tarzan Rocks and would recommend seeing it. The theatre is a nice cool break in the heat and the lead singer is a HOTTY! The skaters are very very very far out and fun to watch, while Tarzan and Jane's arcobatics were graceful and lovely! Off to AFRICA! The Safari was excellent as always. We even had a giraffe in the middle of the road, it was a little too REAL for me and I got freaked that it might EAT ME ALLLLLL UP! I love watching the animals! The kids had a blast too! I recall a pregnant lady asking about it's appropriateness for pregnant folks. It wasn't as bumpy as I recalled our first time in 1998. My 2 year old did fine on it! Sandra got hungry! Off to Tusker House. Very nice chicken sandwich. DS decided to have a major melted down. We tag teamed lunch to settle the boy. Turned out he's teething and Tylenol a couple mornings made all the difference the rest of the trip. We wanted to get ds back to CSR for a nap. So a quick run over to Kali River Rapids for dh and dd before the nap was in order! DS really had a melt down while we waited for dh and dd. I felt sorry for him, it was hot and he was tried. Once we got back to CSR and we napped it was great! Every vacation, we have a MELT DOWN day and that morning was ours. I got a little cranky with ds. I still felt sad over Aunts death and cats death before the trip. But that night EVERYTHING turned around! I got right into the vacation. Glad the MELT DOWN day happened at the beginning of the trip, got it out of the way and ready to PLAY! We didn't have dinner plans. I had hoped to visit PO for a meal to see if that would be the next resort we picked, but dh came up with a better plan. EAT AROUND THE WORLD AT EPCOT! Since ds didn't get to nap until 4pm and woke at 6pm, it paved the path for a nice late night! We were hungry! DH figured we could just go to Epcot to eat! It was a great plan. Since we hadn't planned Epcot that night there was no pressure to DISNEY COMMANDO the joint. We simply each picked a counter service we never tried and shared meals. We got a lot of kids combo meals ~ it was an inexpensive easy dinner. The weather was perfects and the kids loved eating outside and running about! We stopped at Mexico first for kids burrito, nachos and churro. WOW it was great! I only nibbled and took the kids over to KID SPOT in Mexico. They had a blast making masks! It gave dh and I quiet time to eat and chat. Off to Norway and a kringla (sp???) yummy! Egg roll, rice and fortune cookies at China, Teriaki beef, chicken and rice at Japan and fries at UK! We were STUFFED for about $20! We stopped around Monocco to see ToD! WOW! THAT WAS A HIGHLIGHT! Everyone got into it! We watched Illuminations too! The place was DEAD! There were plenty of great viewing spots. I think it was empty because MK had Spectromagic that night. We got back to CSR and in bed around 11pm. It started out rough with cranky me and ds and ended up one of the BEST days! STAY TUNED FOR MORE…….Day 4 is MGM day! Sandra

Sounds like a wonderful day Sandra..especially the evening at Epcot. I can just imagine being there and doing the exact same thing!:)

We were last at AK when it was only 2 weeks open and was a little dissappointed with the "lack" of animals but I've heard that they've gotten the "bugs" out of the park and we're looking forward to visiting next March!:bounce:

Another great day Sandra...thanks!;)

and tired......on your sunday we were at MGM watching Fantasmic......I wish I could of stayed another week.......tahnsk for your report

Nothing like Epcot when it's not crowded and you can really enjoy ToD and RoE

Another great report.I am stuffed just reading what you had to eat,LOL.

Since we hadn't planned Epcot that night there was no pressure to DISNEY COMMANDO the joint
A good Disney Nazi is always prepared to tour any park, any time :p

Thanks for posting!

What a day! Glad to hear you all enjoyed it.

Great the veteran parents stepped in as honorary CMS for the CC:D
Looking forward to your next report;)

For some reason, DH and I always get a little cranky at Animal Kingdom--we've nicknamed it "Anger Kingdom"!:D I think it has to do with the small walkways and intense heat. We finally fell in love with the park on our third try--in nice, cool December! Go figure!
Thanks for the great reports and I'm glad your day ended up so wonderful!

All of our vacations have a melt down day. Either one of the kids starts and I jump right in there too! It was funny chatting to a mom from St. Louis while we were doing laundry at CSR about melt downs. Her ds's are 2 and 5 and when I told her about AK melt down day, she laughed and said they were at AK on the same Monday and had the same melt down! LOL! I got a little cranky at dh one night at Epcot too when he and dd went to Universe of Energy and it turned out to be a 45 minute movie. I was left outside for an hour. BAD DISER I AM! I should have known about this movie!!!!! I didn't do my homework! YIKES! I did the cold shoulder for about one hour, enough to get my point across about dh should have asked what the attraction was before doing it. Then I got happy again and had a great night. It's hard to stay POed at WDW. I must say, dh is fabulous for reading me and knowing what to say, when to say it and when to just shake his head at me and giggle until I'm thru my mood. LOL! I don't do the moody thing that much, only when I don't get want I what! LOL! Joking! Chat soon! S
