SANDISW's Summer Trip to BCV and BLT - Starts Tomorrow!!

Sandi, I'm enjoying your TR and am glad to hear you are having a great trip despite the heat! We, too, love BLT but are excited to try BCV at some point as well, so it has been fun to read about your experience there. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Your trip sounds awesome, doing all your favorite things at your own pace. Glad that your having fun. I hope the heat lets up a bit. Can't wait to hear more. :goodvibes

We then headed to GMR and then Star Tours. I hate this ride but my DD 14 loves it. It makes me sick. Now, I can do Everest, Space Mountain, and RNR, but this one--no way. Everything was walk on at this point.

Same for me! I can ride anything but Star Tours makes me wicked sick!

Great report. Any photos to share? :flower3:

I think if you close your eyes for the first big "drop" on Star Tours, you'll be ok. That's what I do.

:thumbsup2 Depending on how I'm feeling I've been know to keep my eyes shut for the entire thing. It always gives me a chuckle to think how ridiculous it might look to the CM's monitoring the ride if they happen to notice. :rotfl2:

Enjoying your trip report! One of the things I enjoy the most at BCV is lying on my lounge chair with a view of the lake-so try out SAB just for a little while to do that!

I loved reading your report and your future add on at BCV made me smile the most! That's how it begins....and the next thing you know, you own at 6 resorts like we do!:goodvibes

Sounds like a great start to your trip. I'm so glad that you are enjoying the Beach Club, and kudos to you for getting your DH to agree to add on there. Can't wait to read more. Try and stay cool. :grouphug:

Oh, this is me! I keep my eyes open until the screen goes down and then its shut tight and looking at the floor. I can imagine what they say to this. My DD thinks it is so funny.

I have decided that I went in to the wrong profession. I should have been a weather person. They can simply say "Oh, tomorrow will be better and less humid" and be TOTALLY WRONG and simply say "Woops, got that one wrong".

Today was the worst of the heat so far so we ended up back at the resort fairly early.

We started the day at Epcot for EMH to get in Test Track. We usually stay away from these, but had lunch at AK scheduled at 2:00 pm and knew that we would not have enough to do there to keep us busy if we went at rope drop.

I got up at 6:45 but didn't need to wake up the other two until 7:15 am and we still made it out of the room at 7:45 am. I just love being this close. Heading in to Epcot from IG is to die for, IMO. Not having to fight any crowds was something we had never experienced. As soon as we entered we were able to take our time and head to Test Track. We got FP's with a return time of 9:05 am and then went in to the ride. We pretty much walked right on and had a great time. This is one of my favorite rides. I am a HUGE Nascar fan and it just amazes me that they can ride around Daytona at 3 times the speeds as this ride.

We ended up just doing Spaceship Earth, using our FP's again, and then on our way out, got FP's for Soarin. We left and head to AK.

As soon as we entered, we realized how hot the place was. They really need to put in some misters to spray you as you walk on all that hot tar. DD 14 decided that she was going to try EE (she is not a fan of roller coasters) so we headed right there so she would not loose her nerve. We got there around 11:00 am and the wait was only 15 minutes. I was so proud of her and she immediately sent a text to both her brother and sister to let them know she had done it. Of course, we had to buy the picture to commerate this big step.

Once we were done, DH (who did not ride) said it was way too hot, he was never coming again in the summer (that will change once we are back home) and that he wanted to leave. Since we had ADR's at Tusker, we decided to head there and see if we could eat early. Luckily, we could and the meal was great. I realized that I like to eating TS at lunch instead of dinner as it gives me the whole day to get rid of that "I'm stuffed" feeling--of course, if I just ate less, that would work too, but hey, I am at Disney and I purposely brought the stretchy shorts!!!:lmao:

As we headed out, DH commented how he realized that by staying at BCV and BLT, we may be able to come and get away without renting a car for the time we are here. Other than AK, both those resorts allow us to get there without too much hassle. We don't really like the bus system (there is something about having to wait for things vs. just moving, even if it does not take less time) so this was a big change for him.

We are now back at the room, heading to the pool since DH is napping. Our plans are to take it easy tonight. We may head to HS to see Fantasmic as we have never stayed in that park late enough. NOw that it is so easy to get to, we may try.

All I can say is that being a DVC member really changes how you look at things. Before becoming members, going to a park to do 1 ride and lunch would have just seemed not right. Now, we don't care as we know we have lots and lots of stays and years to enjoy things. I can honestly say, it really was a great decision to buy!

When you go to the Marketplace can you check to see what they have in the former gelato counter? I'll never get over them taking it away so I hope they replaced it with something equally delicious. Thanks. Enjoying your trip report. Stay cool! If you had gelato in the Marketplace that would be easier.

Since this is my first time here, I am not sure where the gelato was. We were SO disappointed when we heard that it was gone as it was definitely something we were looking forward to.

I can tell you that when you walk in, the mug refill station is on the wall to your left. Next to that are coolers filled with drinks and foods. Against the back wall is another cooler filled with grab and go things. Then there is the area where you can get some fast food type things (pizzas, salads, etc.). The rest of the store is merchandise.

Not sure how this compares to what it was like.

Loving your report!! Sounds like you're having a wonderful time. Quick question - I get sick on the motion simulator rides like star tours and I don't handle Mission Space so well either. IYHO do you think Soarin' will make me feel sick or is it different because of the way it moves, etc.?

Have a wonderful vacation!! Any pics??

I was at the Marketplace last Thursday, it appeared the had pastries where the gelato was.

So much fun reading your trip report - in just 2 weeks we are doing the exact same split stay, just a few more nights (4 at each resort.) I totally agree with you about how DVC changes your perspective on days when you get to do so little because of the heat (or because of crowds.) We have the same philosophy - it's all good because we know we'll be back and whatever we miss, we will hit it the next time (or the time after that.) Enjoy the rest of your stay!!!

Is there any plan for some photo's? Would love to see the view from BLT:thumbsup2
