Sandals/Sneakers for 11 year old boy?

Hi,
I think I have figured out my own shoes, I bought a good pair of New Balance Sneakers, Merrell Via III and orthoheel flip flops, now I am worried about my son. I recently bought him a pair of Nike Athletic shoes and he is a pretty athletic kid, but now I am thinking with August potentially being rain, should I buy him sandals and what can you recommend? He has a pair of adidias sports flip flops but I don't know how supportive they are? Any help? Thanks!!!!

We were just having this discussion the other day. DS (10) has recently decided he likes to wear MY tevas around. Well, sorry but those are Mom's

I took him to try and find a pair of sandals that he liked. We tried Keens (DH and I each have a pair), Nikes and Reeboks (both the flipflop kind). DS finally chose a pair of QS flipflops (toe thong isn't plastic but some kind of soft, suede-type material)and even wore them out of the store. Luckily, they were on sale for $10. He has a pair of Under Armour slides that we will bring as well as his sneakers.
