Sand fleas at the Poly beach??

Hello Poly Experts!

In December 2001, DH, DS and myself visited the Poly for our first time. We spent a lot of time on the beach just playing in the sand and watching the fireworks. During this time, DH and I were plagued with bites of some sort, primarily on our feet and ankles. They itched like crazy for days.

We are headed back to the Poly in just 54 short days, and want to protect ourselves from these bugs. Does anyone know what they are, and what are the best ways to protect ourselves. What about water shoes?

Oooh, I'm itchy just reading this! We had the same problem 11/2001. However, they are selective on who they will chew on....only two out of five of us were chosen for dinner! We went to visit last year and wore bug spray...seemed to help but then again I was very careful and wore socks and shoes.
