sand ceremony

we had a family sand ceremoney but with our parents. my sets of parents made my sand and also put some in our vase to create the foundation for us. My husbands parents did the same. It was really nice until UPS kicked it from florida to maine

What is the gel at the top of the vase?
Did you put this in to seal the sand for transporting it?

We put a gel on the top that is used to make candles. We got it at Michael's for about $7 and it comes with wicks. There is a wick on the top too but you cant see it in the photo. It has to set and then will seal everything We unfortuntealy didnt wait long enough before we shipped it. We had an at home reception with the rest of our family so we ended up recreated it. On our way home from the reception I accidentally dumped it all over the front seat of my car ... so now I will have blue sparkly sand in my car forever...i would absolutly recommend sealing it

I want to do a sand ceremony involving our kids (this is a second wedding for the both of us) but I'm concerned that the colors of our wedding (red and black) will be a little too carnival to do sand in those colors and that they would mix during the trip home to be a muddy brown.

I love the idea of the natural sand.

Am I crazy to want to try to have 6 people pouring sand at once to symbolize our blended family?

CityGirlLost I think it is awesome to want to get all the children involved. Just get a bigger vase! And use what ever color you want to. Its the meaning behind it that really matters

I didn't even think about it and I hand carried my sand ceremony vase with me onto the plane. I put it though the security screening with no problem at Orlando airport.
